As you set your fantasy basketball lineups for Wednesday night, there are a lot of injury situations to keep an eye on.
The first of which deals with Minnesota Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic, who is likely out Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks as he is officially listed as doubtful by the team.
If Pekovic remains sidelined, it would mark his sixth DNP in a row and place Gorgui Dieng in the starting lineup again.
Stay away from Pekovic until you see him on the floor but don’t be afraid to take a shot on Dieng as the rookie has averaged 12.2 points and 13.8 rebounds per game during his last five outings.
I have to list Dieng as a must start tonight as he is capable of rewarding you with a double-double effort.
In other news around the NBA:
Mike Scott to start for Hawks
Scott will start at small forward for the Hawks on Wednesday, sending Shelvin Mack to the bench. Kyle Korver (back) is out again and coach Mike Budenholzer is rolling out a bigger lineup vs. the Wolves. Scott has fared well as a starter with Paul Millsap out in the past, and it will be interesting to see how the two co-exist in the starting five. He could be worth a look tonight.
Alec Burks out vs. Grizzlies
Utah’s Burks will get his second straight DNP and he was recently spotted in a walking boot, so there are no guarantees that he’ll be ready for Friday’s game vs. the Pelicans either. Marvin Williams stepped up with 11 points in 30 minutes in Burks’ absence on Monday, but I wouldn’t recommend picking him up as Williams is not much of a fantasy option at this point.
Wilson Chandler out again
The Nuggets will be without Chandler (groin) once again as there is no clear return date for the Denver forward. The Nuggets might soon consider shutting him down for the season, which makes sense since Denver isn’t going anywhere this season. If you own Chandler, it may make sense to drop him now.
Brian Roberts a game-time decision
Roberts suffered a bone bruise in his left knee and was seen limping today. He sounds iffy to start Wednesday’s game vs. the Clippers, which could leave the short-handed Pelicans in a dire situation. Austin Rivers is the most likely option to start at PG if Roberts doesn’t play, with Tyreke Evans also taking on more playmaking responsibilities. I would stay away from Roberts tonight but would give the other two a look if you are desperate.
