Fantasy Baseball: Rockies' Michael Cuddyer; Mets' Curtis Granderson listed as day-to-day

We are just in the third week of the MLB season and the injuries are starting to pile up for your fantasy team.

With that being said, let’s take a look at the injury report for Tuesday, April 15, as you may want to get some of these guys out of your lineup today.

Michael Cuddyer, Colorado Rockies

Cuddyer left Monday’s game against the Padres in the bottom of the fifth inning after slamming his back and right arm against the right-field wall trying to catch Alexi Amarista‘s triple. The Rockies announced Cuddyer had a right elbow contusion and listed his availability as day to day.

It’s a bad time for an injury to Cuddyer as he is off to another hot start, batting .347 with three home runs and 10 RBI.

Brandon Barnes came into the game to replace Cuddyer and either he or Corey Dickerson could get the nod if Cuddyer can’t go.

Curtis Granderson, New York Mets

Both Granderson and Juan Lagares left Monday’s Mets-Diamondbacks game early with injuries. Granderson left in the sixth inning with left rib cage, forearm and knee contusions. He was taken for preliminary X-rays.

Lagares left the game in the seventh with a pulled right hamstring after reaching base on a fielder’s choice. Granderson ran into the mesh fence in right field in the first inning, dropping a ball he seemed to have caught and taking a hard hit to his left arm.

Andrew Brown took Granderson’s place. After the injury to Lagares, Lucas Duda shifted to left field, Eric Young moved to center and Brown played right. Ike Davis pinch-ran for Lagares and stayed in at first base.

Brett Anderson, Colorado Rockies

Rockies left-hander Brett Anderson most likely will have surgery Thursday to place tiny pins in his broken left index finger to promote faster healing. Anderson (0-2, 3.60 ERA), who suffered the injury while batting against the Giants’ Matt Cain in the fourth inning of Saturday’s 1-0 Rockies victory, is expected to need 4-6 weeks to heal, but there isn’t a timetable on when he’ll return to the mound.

Lefty Franklin Morales (0-1, 6.39 ERA in three games, two starts) will slide into Anderson’s rotation spot. Morales started in the rotation but was moved to the bullpen last week to accommodate right-hander Jordan Lyles.

Craig Kimbrel, Atlanta Braves

Kimbrel was unavailable to pitch Monday night as he was shut down to rest his sore shoulder and is expected to be rested for a few days.

Keep your eye on this situation as a sore shoulder could linger for Kimbrel.

Braves’ manager Fredi Gonzalez said Kimbrel would be day-to-day. He turned to setup man David Carpenter to record the final three outs in a 9-6 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies Monday at Citizens Bank Park.
