The Kansas City Royals have placed outfielder Lorenzo Cain on the 15-day DL with a strained hamstring.  LHP Justin Marks has been called up in the corresponding roster move.

While this news will barely make an impact in most leagues, for those of you that are like me and play in deeper leagues, this could have a big impact.  Jarrod Dyson and Justin Maxwell will likely platoon in Cain’s stead.  Dyson has blinding speed, and he is the left-handed hitting part of the platoon, meaning he should get about two-thirds of the at-bats vacated by Cain.

Dyson is the player that I am targeting, though Maxwell is not without value himself.  He has more experience, and could claim the job all to himself if Dyson struggles.  Those of you in AL-only should probably jump on Maxwell as well.

Dyson and Maxwell both have good speed, so if you are in need of stolen bases, keep an eye on which one gets most of the playing time.  If you feel the need to pounce on one right away, it should be Dyson.
