The Toronto Blue Jays have activated SS Jose Reyes from the 15 day disabled list. Reyes gained relative infamy by getting hurt in his first at-bat of the season. Reyes lasted a whole five at-bats in his return to the lineup.
Toronto also placed 1B/DH Adam Lind on the 15 day disabled list with back issues. The Blue Jays called up Juan Francisco and sent down Munenori Kawasaki to Buffalo. This likely means that Francisco and Moises Sierra will platoon at DH. Francisco has always struggled against left handed pitchers, which is likely the reason why he has failed to lock down an everyday role throughout his career.
Yes, I know, that’s all fine and good, but we all know what you really come here for. It is called FANTASY CPR, after all! If you are “lucky” enough to own Reyes, he needs to be back in your lineup immediately. He is still an elite shortstop when healthy. If you need some cheap power, Juan Francisco is worth a pickup. If he plays primarily against righties, he can put up some solid numbers over the next couple of weeks. You Lind owners in deep leagues should go with Francisco until he gives you a reason not to.
In other news, the Washington Nationals have activated CF Denard Span from the 7 day disabled list. He will resume his perch atop the Nationals’ lineup. Those of you in need of runs or a few steals should pick up Span, especially in leagues that start five outfielders.
The Cincinnati Reds have activated Sean Marshall from the 15 day disabled list. Marshall will likely resume a setup role in the Reds’ bullpen. He should be owned in all leagues that count holds. Marshall misses a lot of bats, and doesn’t give up much. He can help you in holds, K/9, and even ERA, especially in H2H leagues.
