Fantasy Baseball: Nats' Bryce Harper placed on 15-Day DL

Fantasy owners just lost another one of their top guys as the Washington Nationals just placed outfielder Bryce Harper on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday with a sprained left thumb.

The move is retroactive to Saturday.

Harper, who was a first-round pick in almost every draft, hurt his hand with a head-first slide into third base Friday night after hitting a third-inning, bases-loaded triple in Washington’s 11-1 victory. He stayed in the game for an inning before he was replaced.

He is scheduled to fly to Cleveland on Monday and see hand specialist Thomas Graham for a second opinion.

The Friday that Harper got injured was a big one as he went 2-for-2 with a career-high four RBI on Friday night, giving him only nine runs drive in for the season as he lifted his batting average to .289.

Harper is among several top fantasy stars off to slow starts this season as he has only one home run in 83 at-bats.

Steven Souza Jr. was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to replace him on the roster but was not in the lineup Sunday. Nate McLouth is getting the start in left field, batting eighth.

The Nats are becoming a mash unit as Harper joins catcher Wilson Ramos, third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, starting pitcher Dough Fister and outfielder Scott Hairston among Nats currently on the DL.
