Milwaukee Brewers’ third baseman Aramis Ramirez has left today’s game against the New York Yankees with a strained hamstring in the fourth inning. Ramirez homered earlier in the game against C.C. Sabathia.
Ramirez injured his hamstring while going for a ball defensively. He was replaced in the contest by Jeff Bianchi. Bianchi will likely see most of the playing time at third while Aramis is out. Bianchi might be worth a look in deeper leagues for the next few days considering the lack of depth at third base fantasy-wise
Ramirez will be evaluated tomorrow. The Brewers will likely wait until the results of the evaluation are in before deciding if he needs to be placed on the disabled list.
Ramirez has struggled a bit at the plate this season, hitting .240 and four homers. He has managed to drive in 20 though.
In other news, the Washington Nationals have hinted that a DL stint could be in the cards for first baseman Adam LaRoche. LaRoche is in the midst of an outstanding season in which he has hit .319 with five homers and 21 RBI. If he does land on the DL, he likely won’t miss more than the 15 day minimum with his tender quad.
The Cincinnati Reds have activated closer Aroldis Chapman from the 15 day disabled list. It remains to be seen whether the Reds will throw him into the fire immediately or ease him into the role.
