Last week in my post for Week 9 streaming options, I touched on four starters that would be great plug-and-plays. If you started Phil Hughes or Tyler Skaggs, you got decent outings but no wins. Wins are a frustrating category – just ask Jeff Samardzija who has a 1.68 ERA in 75 innings, but only one win to show for it.
Let’s take a look at four more options. In deeper leagues, these guys are likely owned, but consider these streamers for standard leagues with Week 10 on the horizon.
Jaime Garcia (21% owned, Yahoo!)
Next start: June 3rd @ Kansas City
Notes: Garcia has performed pretty well in three starts since returning from shoulder surgery. He hasn’t walked anyone yet and carries a tidy 0.81 WHIP in 19.2 innings. He has been prone to the long ball, but the Royals are batting in the bottom third of the league against lefties.
Jorge De La Rosa (32% owned)
Next start: June 3rd vs Arizona
Notes: Colorado is a pitcher’s worst nightmare, yet De La Rosa has defied the laws of science and sports with an eye-popping 2.49 ERA at Coors (4.54 on the road). He’s only given up two homers in 25.1 innings there. Why not roll the dice with what’s working?
Collin McHugh (7% owned)
Next start: June 3rd vs Los Angeles Angels
Notes: He’s got a 2.80 ERA this year with 50 Ks in 45 innings. That’s a tasty ratio with strikeouts tough to come by in bunches. Even though the Angels are tough on the road, McHugh has been a good play lately.
Jacob deGrom (7% owned)
Next start: June 5th @ Chicago Cubs
Notes: In his first taste of the bigs this year, deGrom has a 1.83 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in three starts. He’ll get a tasty matchup at Wrigley, and in case you haven’t heard, the Cubs are bad.
