Last week in my post for Week 11 streaming options, I touched on four starters that would be great plug-and-plays. John Danks and the ageless Bartolo Colon had solid starts, and I wanted to write “Danks for the memories, John,” but I’m not done with him yet. He is featured in this column for a second consecutive week.
Let’s take a look at four more options catered to deeper, more competitive leagues. Consider these streamers with Week 12 around the corner.
Wei-Yin Chen (13% owned, Yahoo!)
Next start: June 16th @ Tampa Bay
Notes: Chen has had a terrific June thus far. In three starts this month, he’s got a 1.45 ERA and 0.75 WHIP, including a welcomed 8.2 K/9 (6.6 for the year). The Rays, on the other hand, are struggling and are among the league’s worst against lefties. Sound like a recipe for success?
Kevin Gausman (10% owned)
Next start: June 17th @ Tampa Bay
Notes: Another Oriole finds the stream. Gausman takes the ball a day after the aforementioned Chen, having won both his last two starts, giving up only one run in each. Both starts came against tough opponents in the A’s and Jays, and he’ll get the struggling Rays next week.
Gavin Floyd (10% owned)
Next start: June 19th @ Washington
Notes: Since returning from Tommy John surgery, Floyd hasn’t given up more than three runs in seven starts. He carries a cool 2.57 ERA, including a trip to Coors this past week where he allowed just one earned run on three hits. Nationals Park has mostly been a pitcher’s park this year, and Floyd heads there next week.
John Danks (5% owned)
Next start: June 17th vs San Francisco
Notes: His ownership in Yahoo! leagues rose just two percentage points since last week’s column (and win versus the Tigers), but Danks remains a streaming target, giving up just five runs in his last 29.1 innings. He’s rolling right now and gets the Giants next, who aren’t great away from home.
