We’ve made it! Football is back, and with that comes the over analyzing of the preseason, trying to find any advantage we can for our upcoming drafts. Many fantasy champions are made in the preseason. From analyzing rookies to scoping out all of the off-season moves, I will try to help you prepare as well. We’re going to start this series by listing key take aways from last night’s bevy of preseason games along with last Sunday’s Hall of Fame Game. Keep checking in throughout the day to see more of my analysis from the first round of preseason games!
New York Jets vs Indianapolis Colts
- Chris Johnson looked bad. For anyone hoping that a change of scenery would bring back the beloved CJ2K, it’s not looking so great. Chris did score from one yard out, but he also dropped a pass. The Jets backfield is not something I want to touch in any of my drafts. Chris Ivory looked like the better runner, but he is made of glass. He proved that by leaving the game with a rib injury.
- With recent reports coming out of the Colts camp stating that T.Y. Hilton will be the #1 receiver, Hilton proved that in last night’s game. He was targeted four times catching three of those balls for 38 yards in the FIRST drive alone. Draft! Draft! Draft! He has an ADP that puts him as a WR2-3 and will put up great numbers this season.
- Trent Richardson did not impress. Although he seems to be better in camp, he did not do anything to change my mind or to show that he can get back to his 2012 rookie campaign self. Stay away unless he gets drastically better in the rest of the preseason, or unless he falls to far in your draft to pass on him.
