We’ve made it! Football is back, and with that comes the over analyzing of the preseason, trying to find any advantage we can for our upcoming drafts. Many fantasy champions are made in the preseason. From analyzing rookies to scoping out all of the off-season moves, I will try to help you prepare as well. We’re going to start this series by listing key take aways from last night’s bevy of preseason games along with last Sunday’s Hall of Fame Game. Keep checking in throughout the day to see more of my analysis from the first round of preseason games!
Baltimore Ravens vs San Francisco 49’ers
- Carlos Hyde is a must-own handcuff for Frank Gore. Draft him now in late rounds, or you can take a chance and see if you can pick him up on the waiver wire. Coming into the draft he was my highest rated running back of this rookie class, and he played like it last night. Hyde ran for 39 yards on five carries while showing excellent vision and power. My comparison would be Eddie Lacy without the spin move.
- Bernard Pierce ran well in Gary Kubiak’s system, running for 37 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown. Due to Ray Rice’s three carries this game, there is still much confusion as to who will do better this year. Keep an eye on them both to see how they progress through the preseason.
- Ray Rice ran for 17 yards on only three carries. Although he will be suspended for the first two games, he is a good buy low candidate if you can get him low enough to avoid any risk. He did show some improvement on his three carries.
- Owen Daniels showed absolutely nothing positive in his preseason outing. Dennis Pitta’s stock rises as Owen Daniels more and more seems to be a non factor in this offense.
