We’ve made it! Football is back, and with that comes the over analyzing of the preseason, trying to find any advantage we can for our upcoming drafts. Many fantasy champions are made in the preseason. From analyzing rookies to scoping out all of the off-season moves, I will try to help you prepare as well. We’re going to start this series by listing key take aways from last night’s bevy of preseason games along with last Sunday’s Hall of Fame Game. Keep checking in throughout the day to see more of my analysis from the first round of preseason games!
Denver Broncos vs Seattle Seahawks
- Wes Welker had two targets, including one in the end zone. He looks to still be one of Peyton Manning’s favorite red zone targets. Don’t let his first season’s production in Denver scare you, Wes will produce. Very possibly at a high level.
- Demaryius Thomas had five targets in two drives. He will look to top his numbers from last season in this Peyton Manning led offense. At this point I would rather take Thomas over Calvin Johnson. He could be that good! In case you’re wondering, that means I have him as the top receiver.
- Demarcus Ware and Aqib Talib made great plays in disrupting Seattle’s offense. That is something that Denver as a whole couldn’t really do in the Super Bowl last February. It is hard to put too much stock in a preseason game, but this defense looked good. Add those guys to linebacker Von Miller, and you have a defense that looks to cement itself at the top just like they did in the 2012 season.
- Ronnie Hillman looks to be ahead of C.J. Anderson on the depth chart. At least right now. He scored a touchdown and ran for 15 yards on six carries.
