We’ve made it! Football is back, and with that comes the over analyzing of the preseason, trying to find any advantage we can for our upcoming drafts. We’re going to start this series by listing key take aways from last night’s bevy of preseason games. Buffalo Bills vs Carolina Panthers
- Although rookie receivers don’t often make much of an impact, this years wide receiver draft class looks to be a great one. Kelvin Benjamin’s first NFL catch was a 29 yard touchdown bomb that he made as he stumbled into the end zone. With an ADP that puts him around round 11, Benjamin is a must draft in all formats with no competition around him.
- C.J. Spiller looked better this game than last Sunday, running for 22 yards on three carries. With Fred Jackson getting goal line duties and splitting time, don’t overdraft Spiller. His injury history is also a cause for concern, along with all the recent reports of Buffalo wanting to trade him.
- Sammy Watkins caught three passes on four targets for 21 yards. I would stay away from Sammy due to E.J. Manuel being under center. Manuel is too inconsistent and makes too many mistakes to rely on Watkins too heavily.
- Robert Woods had four targets and grabbed all of them for 31 yards. I fully expect Woods to be the most consistent receiver on this team if Mike Williams is no competition for him. He should be a nice deep league option as well. He has shown a good rapport with E.J. Manuel thus far.
