Oakland Raiders vs Detroit Lions
- Nothing major happened last night for the Raiders. Maurice Jones-Drew started the game, but Darren McFadden capped off the drives with goal line duties. Neither player looked impressive, aside from a 22 yard catch by Jones-Drew.
- Derek Carr was much better last night. He ended his night going 9 of 16 for 109 yards with a touchdown. He also showed off his arm strength, throwing a 38 yard bomb to Greg Little just short of the end zone. Carr will improve and take over for Schaub sometime later this season. Those of you in keeper and dynasty formats should keep track of this situation.
- Golden Tate ended his night with 43 yards on three catches, one of them going for a touchdown. Tate is severely undervalued, and will have a great season with Calvin Johnson drawing coverage his way. Tate is one of the NFL’s most reliable receivers with surefire hands and he has proven to be quite durable. Tate will finally get to showcase his skills in this high flying offense. Seattle did not throw enough for him to show off his whole skill set.
- James Jones started at wide receiver for the Raiders, and hauled in two passes for 29 yards. He could have a decent year if Schaub and/or Carr can get him the ball. Those are big if’s though.
