Carolina Panthers vs New England Patriots

  1. Cam Newton went 8 of 12 for 88 yards with a few overthrows and missed targets.  The Panthers offensive line did not help at all, and if this preseason is any indication of the upcoming season, Cam will definitely be scrambling more.  A whole lot more.
  2. Kelvin Benjamin caught five of his six targets for 47 yards, and is definitely Newton’s favorite receiver.  Benjamin definitely stepped up this game as he was covered by Darrelle Revis, and still managed to haul in five passes.
  3. Julian Edelman caught all of his eight targets for 99 yards, and will be a monster in PPR formats. He seems to be Tom Brady‘s most trusted receiver right now, and must be owned in all leagues.  Even in non-PPR formats, the potential is there for him to put up huge numbers in any given week with all the targets he will be getting.
  4. Shane Vereen was impressive last night, but with Bill Belichick controlling the reigns no one really knows who will get the start.  Stevan Ridley has started all preseason, but Vereen has been the most impressive.  He caught all five of his targets for 57 yards and two touchdowns.
