Jim Cowsert-US PRESSWIRE

This is it folks, this is really it. My last article of the season. I can’t believe it’s honestly here. I truly appreciate all of my viewers this entire season. I really hope that my highlighted guys have helped you get into the championship this week. From here, anything can truly happen. That’s what makes fantasy sports so great. All that matters in the playoffs is who’s hot in the last week of the season. This is why I’m here. To give you the best advice possible to take home that championship. I’m going to mix it up this week. Instead of picking 10 guys, I’m going to give you a larger list that will supplement for the rest of the season. There’s always a wide variance in leagues. Some may be done this Sunday while others go through the first week of October. I believe that these players below can win you that trophy.

HITTERS

Mike Napoli, TEX C - Not sure how this freak of nature isn’t owned in every league. The dude can carry a whole squad and is heating up.

Salvador Perez, KC C - Been all over this guy since last year and is proving me right each night. Going to be an elite catcher and has some big games in the next two weeks.

September 9, 2012; Pittsburgh, PA, USA; Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo (44) at the plate against the Pittsburgh Pirates during the seventh inning at PNC Park. The Chicago Cubs won 4-2. Mandatory Credit: Charles LeClaire-US PRESSWIRE

Anthony Rizzo, CHC 1B - Catching fire in the ole Windy City. Expect him to put up big numbers to close out year.

John Mayberry, Jr., PHI OF - Been producing since he got regular playing time. Should continue that feat.

Domonic Brown, PHI OF - Expected him to do huge things, but definitely failed me. Has gotten hot though this past week and has potential to put up nice stats.

Brett Gardner, NYY OF - Only should be grabbed if you’re in dire need of steals. Will not bat at all, but will pinch run and could swipe a few bags a week.

Denard Span, MIN OF - Excelling this last week after rejoining the squad. Can hit for a solid average and steal bases.

Ryan Lavarnway, BOS C - Also been on a tear for the past ten days. Catcher isn’t the deepest position so any day Lavarnway is in the lineup, feel free to put him in yours

Justin Smoak, SEA 1B - Everyone knows he’s got the tools, but just hasn’t consistently put it together. Has looked legit lately. Maybe he can explode to end season.

Starling Marte, PIT OF - Was on Marte’s bandwagon since he got the call, but since his leadoff bomb in his first AB, hasn’t been too great. Tripled in three straight games this week. Now that doesn’t happen often. Grab him.

PITCHERS

Dylan Bundy, BAL P - The biggest pitching prospect in baseball got the call. He’s a mere 19 years old, but he can sure throw a baseball. Not sure what his role will be with the O’s, but you need to grab him. Especially in a keeper league.

Lance Lynn, STL P - One of the biggest surprises all season, Lynn is back in the rotation. Been dominant all season long. Snag him if still there.

September 19, 2012; Bronx, NY, USA; New York Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte (46) trots out from the dugout to start the fifth inning of a game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Brad Penner-US PRESSWIRE

Andy Pettite, NYY SP - Finally healthy again and returned on Wednesday with a win. He’s been in a pennant race before with the Yanks. I’ll trust the veteran.

Kenley Jansen, LAD RP - Fortunately, Jansen’s heart condition has seemed to be back to normal. Fortunately, the Dodgers have their stud closer back. They need to win, and win now. Needs to be owned.

Chris Carpenter, STL SP - One of the guttiest performers of 2011, Carpenter is back for the Cards. Not sure the amount of innings he will throw. But the man can pitch, and I expect him to deal in his outings.

Chris Archer, TB P - Archer has been solid in many different roles for the Rays. He’s getting some starts and coming out of the pen too, but either way, his numbers have been legit so I’d play him.

Matt Thornton, CWS RP - This big lefty throws some cheddar. Ventura is trusting him deep into games. Almost more than Addison Reed. If the White Sox are going to win the AL Central, expect crucial innings out of Thornton.

Junichi Tazawa, BOS RP - Just a no name reliever who’s stacking up some numbers out of the pen. He’s been the go to guy for Bobby V in September. He’ll give you some quality stats down the stretch.

Tommy Hunter, BAL P - Another do it all guy. Hunter lately has been taking the ball out of relief and doing big things. The O’s are really about to do this. Hunter is a key part of it.

Francisco Liriano, CWS P - Liriano has all the potential in the world, and he likes to be sporadic on the mound. He will look terrible, and then the next outing, he will be un-hittable. Hopefully you get him on his good day because he can put monster numbers if you do.

Well that’s all for me my friends! It’s been a joy writing for the great site of FantasyCPR. All of us on the staff really appreciate your support of the website and wish you the best this championship week!

It has been a long ride this season, but if you’re still with me, that can only mean good things folks. Depending on your league, the championship either starts on Monday or the following week. So there is no time to mess around. Players are dropping like flies from other owners so be sure to check the free agent pool each day. But there are actually many valuable players out there who could make a deep impact on your championship hunt. Here’s 10 quality guys who have some great potential to put up some big numbers these next two weeks.

1 and 2. A.J. Griffin, OAK SP, Dan Straily, OAK SP - This two-headed monster is now back in Oakland and all healthy. Griffin is back to his typical form after being hurt, and Straily has returned from the minors. With McCarthy being out after that scary injury (glad to hear he’s doing well), I expect huge things out of both these guys. The A’s are for real. It’s September 13 and if you guys haven’t figured that out yet, there’s a problem. Griffin has posting quality numbers all season, and Straily has come out of nowhere to put up mega strikeout numbers. The A’s don’t have an easy schedule by any means to end the year, but both these dudes can pitch and I’d immediately grab them.

Jul. 3, 2012; Phoenix, AZ, USA: (Editors note: Multiple exposure photograph) San Diego Padres pitcher Andrew Cashner throws in the first inning against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE

3. Andrew Cashner, SD SP - Talk about potential. This guy has it all. 100 mph fastball with some nasty off speed. That’s what Cashner is all about. Yes he’s on the Padres, but that doesn’t mean he still can’t produce. Coming off an elbow injury, Cashner seems to be all clear. So expect some big strikeout numbers and hopefully some sneaky wins as well.

4. Brett Lawrie, TOR 3B - I’m a big fan of Lawrie. He plays the game hard. Hustles out each ground ball. Loves to get dirty. Wears his emotion on his sleeves. If I was making a lineup, those are the people I put in there. However, this is fantasy and that doesn’t matter. Luckily for Lawrie, the kid can hit a little bit. Grab him before someone else does.

5. John Lannan, WSH SP - No he’s not Stephen Strasburg. But now he’s taking the place of him in the rotation on the best team in the National League. That’s a pretty good place to be. Especially on your squad. Lannan is a crafty lefty and gets productive outings quite often. I think he can be very valuable in a matchup.

6. Darin Ruf, PHI 1B/OF - 38 home runs. Yes you read that right. Ruf has obliterated the ball in the Phillies’ farm system and he’s finally got the call to the bigs. Ruf will see some time in the outfield and may get some at 1st too. His power is too much to resist if he’s in the lineup.

August 10, 2012; Toronto, ON, CANADA; Toronto Blue Jays right fielder Anthony Gose (43) singles in the eighth inning against the New York Yankees at the Rogers Centre. New York defeated Toronto 10-4. Mandatory Credit: John E. Sokolowski-US PRESSWIRE

7. Anthony Gose, TOR OF - I spotlighted him earlier in the season during his initial call-up, but he didn’t give me too much love. After going back to the minors, Gose has found himself back in Toronto and is playing quite well. He gets on base a lot and makes things happen. Guys like that are valuable fantasy players.

8. Wily Peralta, MIL SP - No flash here, just pure numbers. The Brewers are silently approaching the top of the wild card standings and Peralta has been a big contributor the last week. If they are going to really make a big push at this, Peralta is a guy to look for.

9. Rob Brantly, MIA C - Catchers aren’t the deepest of positions to say the least, and this baby face in Miami has shown a little life lately. After being traded from Detroit, Brantly got a shot with the Marlins but didn’t take full advantage of it. His past few games have been quite solid so he could provide some big hits down the stretch.

10. Kurt Suzuki, WSH C - The Nats are just plowing through the National League, but no one is giving any credit to their horse behind the dish. After picking him up midseason, Suzuki didn’t show to much live. But these past few weeks, he has been on fire so give him a look if you need a catcher.

Hello, Waiver Wire!

Sorry if you were looking for some big news on whether you should hang on to a player or not, but there should be no debating anymore. If you are in a non-keeper league, any player is droppable if you need a roster spot. Keeper leagues, yes, you must still hold onto your big shots, but anyone else feel free to let go. No excuses left. Championship is now.

ENTIRE MLB PLAYER POOL
