Week Four Notes: Coffee, Anderson, Waiver Wire Pickups

AUTHOR: joe dexter | IN: Fantasy News, Featured, NFL | COMMENTS: None Yet

This is make or break. Championship or Toilet Bowl. For some Fantasy Football owners, this is their first chance to rebound from a horrible start. For others, this is the week where the downfall begins. Week four of the Fantasy and NFL season is the start of bye weeks, big time injuries, waiver wire masters, draft day blunders and most importantly the calming of the storm. Most owners are going to start relaxing at this point. Those who are 3-0, Owners who seem to never catch a break, Fantasy Football fanatics with 30 teams will forget to check 15 of [...]

Quick Hits: NFC Week 2

AUTHOR: roto pro | IN: Fantasy News | COMMENTS: None Yet

It seems that the St. Louis offense could be in trouble. Although, Laurent Robinson might be worth a waiver wire flyer in a PPR league. Just don’t expect many touchdowns.
Green Bay’s offensive line has some problems. It’s going to hurt the Packers fantasy production in some form.
It looks as if Mario Manningham is emerging as a go-to receiver for the Giants. Grab him if you can.
Another year, another Marion Barber injury. Hopefully, you were wise enough to handcuff him with Felix Jones.
Cadillac Williams had another solid week for Tampa Bay, but did it with receptions this past week. He’s probably [...]

Late Hits: AFC Week 2

AUTHOR: roto pro | IN: Fantasy News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Chris Johnson had a huge bounce-back from a quiet first game. Rest east CJ owners.
Once again, Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson have to air it out because of Houston’s defense. That’s a good thing from a fantasy perspective.
I wouldn’t worry too much about Pittsburgh’s rather low offensive output. That Chicago weather was dreadful.
Cincinnati’s offense is showing signs of life. Cedric Benson has been a bargain thus far.
Cleveland could be in for a long year. Braylon Edwards might be the only Brown worth playing.
San Diego and Baltimore ended up in a shootout. Their offenses are improved and their defenses are struggling.
Stay [...]

PFT Injury Update

AUTHOR: roto pro | IN: Fantasy News | COMMENTS: None Yet

One of my favorite features from ProFootballTalk is the weekly injury update. PFT wades through all the truths, half-truths, and flat-out lies in the NFL injury report and gives you the highlights. Here’s this week’s version:
Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (ankle) fully participated in practice.
Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel (knee) was a limited participant.
Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb (rib) did not practice.
Bells have been ringing in Baltimore; Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs missed practice due to a concussion and a chest injury, safety Tom Zbikowski missed practice with a concussion, and safety Ed Reed was a limited participant in practice due to a concussion.
Cardinals [...]

NFC Quick Hits: Week One

AUTHOR: roto pro | IN: Fantasy News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Adrian Peterson certainly played like a No. 1 overall fantasy back. Can he continue the streak against a team other than the Browns?
Seattler had a nice debut on both sides of the ball. Nate Burleson might be a solid waiver wire pickup this early in the season.
Holy catches Tim Hightower! The Arizona back had 12 receptions I believe. No way he wil continue that trend.
Ahmad Bradshaw is probably worth a starting spot as a third RB. Even if you has Brandon Jacobs as well.
Roy Williams got off to a great start in Dallas. So did Patrick Crayton. This could be [...]

AFC Quick Hits: Week One

AUTHOR: roto pro | IN: Fantasy News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Cincinnati struggled to get in the endzone, but Chad Ochocinco may have regained his past form. That’s good news for his owners.
Denver’s passing game may have some life, but don’t expect Brandon Stokley to put up double digits every week.
Surprising to see Ricky Williams outscore Ronnie Brown in Week One. And none of the Dolphins receivers may be worth starting on a weekly basis.
The Jets defense is for real. And Mark Sanchez had a better debut than expected. We’ll see if it continues.
Baltimore’s defense gave up more points than usual. And Willis McGahee had a solid day. Perhaps the Ravens [...]

Pierre Thomas Out

AUTHOR: roto pro | IN: Fantasy News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Saints running back Pierre Thomas, who was drafted in the first four or five rounds of most drafts, is out in Sunday’s game against the Lions. Reggie Bush and Mike Bell will get the carries in his absence. Adjust your lineups accordingly.
