Reports from ESPN have Jeff Fisher headed to St. Louis to take over as head coach of the St. Louis Rams. The Rams have a long way to go, but I think they have the right guy to get them there.

Jeff Fisher will take over a Rams team that needs to decide what to do with the #2 pick. in the Draft.
I love what this means for Sam Bradford, as a I wrote here, and think Fisher will get the Rams offense turned around fairly quickly. Which direction he goes in the draft will be extremely revealing of the area he feels needs the most improvement. Many “experts” have them targeting Justin Blackmon and possibly moving back with a team needing RG3 and still adding a WR if they move back. If that’s the route they choose to go that only helps Bradford more.

Remember, the Rams were many people’s pick at the beginning of the year to win the NFC West, and last year they fell1 game short of the playoffs. There’s talent on this team, but they were miserable this year due to some key injuries and an offensive line that could not protect whoever they ended up starting at QB.

I think that Jeff Fisher brings this team back to respectability this year and they finish short of the playoffs at right around .500. Bradford should be a solid #2 QB if his line can protect him and Brandon Lloyd and mystery rookie will be WR 2/3.

Stay tuned to see what Miami does now that their #1 option is headed elsewhere.

The Jeff Fisher chronicles continued this weekend as he was in St. Louis, according to multiple reports, to meet with Sam Bradford and tour the Rams facilities. He reportedly has official offers from both the Rams and the Miami Dolphins and is expected to choose this week between the two offers.

Jeff Fisher won't have to worry about snow in the dome of St. Louis, and Sam Bradford should welcome him to town. (AP Photo/Steven Senne)

Miami is an enticing job, but Fisher’s seems to me to be more of a midwest type of guy, and the NFC West is kinder than the AFC East.

If Fisher chooses St. Louis, which is my guess, it sets up beautifully for Sam Bradford. Bradford will have 4 major things going for him:

No expectations

His health back

A coach who really knows what he’s doing on both sides of the ball

Most likely a great receiver tandem with Brandon Lloyd and Justin Blackmon (assuming the Rams get him at the top of the draft.)

I’m not saying you get Bradford in the first round or anything crazy like that, but he should be set up nicely for a bounce-back and especially if the Rams get Fisher.

In other coaching news, Brad Childress is back in the game. (You know him, the Tony Kornheiser look-alike coach who begged a guy from Mississippi to come to Minnesota and play QB wearing #4) . Chile is interviewing with the Bucs on Monday. He seems like a good fit there, as long as he stays away from Hattiesburg…
