It’s the last week of college football challenge and with a great schedule of college football games there’s lots of good options in competitive games to pick from. There’s going to be serious points put up in many of the rivalry games this weekend so make sure to get your roster all set.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the 21 entries in our Fantasy CPR group for playing along this season. Last week tru2psu led the group with 204 points but “Zach has the best entry” still has the overall lead as his play this year has gotten him into the top 0.3% of all entries across the country. My entry is in the top 9% now after a nice 196 last week thanks to Johnny Manziel, Stedman Bailey, and solid contributions from the rest of my picks.

Here’s how I’m planning on closing out the season strong this Thanksgiving weekend.

Nov 17, 2012; College Station, TX, USA; Texas A

Quarterbacks

Johnny Manziel-Texas A&M: Manziel has been on my team most of the year and continues to put up crazy points. He’s been over 25 challenge points in all but one game this year (against LSU) and has been over 40 five different times. This week he and the Aggies host Mizzou who allowed 48 to Tennessee and 31 to Syracuse in the last two weeks. Expect Manziel to continue his Heisman campaign with a solid finish to his regular season.

Jordan Lynch-NIU: As great as he’s been, Manziel is the number two QB in challenge points just behind this guy-Jordan Lynch. Lynch and the Huskies look to finish 11-1 on the season as they take on Eastern Michigan who is 2-9 on the year 1-6 in the MAC and ranks 111th in the country in points allowed averaging 36.5 points allowed per game. EMU has held only two opponents under 30 all season. He plays Friday so get him in your lineup today.

November 17, 2012; Salt Lake City, UT, USA; Arizona Wildcats running back Ka

Running Backs

Ka’deem Carey-Arizona: Arizona takes on Arizona State in what should be a high-scoring game in this year’s version of the Territorial Cup. Carey is the leading rusher in the country and has scored 25 challenge points or more in each of the last two weeks including a 69 point outburst against Colorado. Carey should get plenty of work this Friday in what shapes up to be a competitive offensive showcase on this Friday night special.

Giovani Bernard: Bernard didn’t go off last week against Virginia but he did have a touchdown and over 100 all-purpose yards. He and the Heels will be home to take on Maryland to close out the season. It could be his last game in a UNC uniform as he decides whether to hit the draft or come back for his Senior season after this one wraps up.

Wide Recievers

Devin Gardner-Michigan: Is he a wide receiver? Not really, but he’s eligible for this position as he plays quarterback against the Buckeyes this weekend. Sneaking a third QB in is a great option since Gardner has scored 25, 35, and 45 points the last three weeks. Ohio State is a tough defense, but I think this is another high-scoring game.

Kenny Stills-Oklahoma: Stills and the Sooners take on Oklahama State in a game that has shootout written all over it. Stills has caught at least six passes in all but two games this season and went for four touchdowns and 33 challenge points last weekend against West Virginia. He’s a good option in a high-scoring game in Norman.

Team Kickers and Defense

Florida State Kickers: FSU has the top-ranked kicking game in College Challenge and plays in what should be a great game against Florida on Saturday.

Utah State Aggies Defense: The Aggies had put up double-digit points in every game all year until last week against Louisiana Tech. This week they’ll face a 1-10 Idaho team that is ranked 122nd in the nation in scoring averaging just 16.5 points per game.

See who I’m going with this weekend in college football in the post below. Photo by John David Mercer-US PRESSWIRE

There’s just two weeks left in College Football Challenge so it’s time to get your rosters set for the upcoming week and be ready to pile up the point to close the gap on whatever your goal is before the end of the season. There’s some nice matchups this weekend to help you get there, just make sure you’ve gotten all your players picked and locked in before their kickoff Saturday.

Last week I got my team all filled out but didn’t save it with my last change which was swithcing Collin Klein out for Marcus Mariota. Not hitting save cost me 21 points but I still was able to have a solid enough week to score the highest week in our 21-member Fantasy CPR group. My 171 was a decent score especially in a week where the average was 125. Dri Archer led my squad last week with this three touchdowns against Miami (Ohio). Our overall leader is still Zach has the best entry who is in the top 0.5% of the entries on the year. My goal that I stated last week was to finish in in the top 10% and right now I’m at 89% and just on the edge of that goal. Here’s the team I’m hoping can get me into that top 10% by next week.

Quarterbacks

November 10, 2012; Dallas, TX, USA; Kansas State Wildcats quarterback Collin Klein (7) celebrates with fans after the game against the TCU Horned Frogs at Amon G. Carter Stadium. Kansas State won beating TCU 23-10. Mandatory Credit: Jim Cowsert-US PRESSWIRE

Johnny Manziel-Texas A&M: Manziel led his Aggies to a huge win last week over Alabama and managed to put up 26 challenge points against a top defense. Except for his game against LSU on 10/20 he’s been over 25 points in every game since A&M’s opener. This week he should be able to go way over that number as the Aggies welcome Sam Houston State to Kyle Field. Manziel will be looking to make his Heisman case and should be able to put some serious offense together against the FCS team. Also in his favor is that Sam Houston can score points as well meaning this could quickly become a shootout. You can’t afford to not have Johnny football this week.

Collin Klein-Kasas State: Klein and the Wildcats could be in a shootout of their own with Baylor who is 118th in the nation allowing 39.4 points per game. Oklahoma hung 42 on the Bears last week, Texas put up 56 on October 20, and West Virginia lit them up for 70 back on September 29. K-State won’t need to score that many since their defense is steadily improving, but look for Klein to continue his own Heisman campaign with another solid rushing and passing performance.

Running Backs

Nov 10, 2012; Seattle, WA, USA; Washington Huskies running back Bishop Sankey (25) carries the ball against the Utah Utes during the 1st half at CenturyLink Field. Mandatory Credit: Steven Bisig-US PRESSWIRE

Giovani Bernard-North Carolina: I had Bernard for Thursday night’s game against Virginia in which he scored 15 points. If you need a big-name back for this spot go with Stefphon Jefferson as he and the Wolfpack head to New Mexico.

Bishop Sankey-Washington: Sankey and the Huskies head to Colorado to face the Buffalos. Each of the last three weeks Sankey has rushed for two scores and has 22, 30, and 29 challenge points. He’s had 25 carries or more in each of those games and should have another huge game if he gets that workload against CU who gave up 69 points to RB Ka’Deem Carey last week in their game against Arizona as Carey piled up 366 yards on the ground with five touchdowns.

Nov 10, 2012; Los Angeles, CA, USA; Southern California Trojans receiver Marqise Lee (9) leads the Spirit of Troy marching band in a rendition of Conquest after the game against the Arizona State Wildcats at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. USC defeated Arizona State 38-17. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee/Image of Sport-US PRESSWIRE

Wide Receivers

Stedman Bailey-WVU: West Virginia is still trying to get back on track and this week they’ll host Oklahoma in what could quickly be a shootout. He caught a team-high 14 passes last week for 225 yards and a touchdown and should again be the beneficiary of plenty of looks from Geno Smith.

Marqise Lee-USC: Lee has been in the endzone in six of his last seven games and over 100 yards in each of his last four. He and the Trojans matchup with UCLA is what should be a high-scoring game meaning a big week for the USC play-maker.

Team Kickers and Defense

K-State Kickers: I’ve had the Wildcats kicker for a number of weeks now but they’ve been over 10 points in each of their last four games and should be able to put another big number up on Saturday against Baylor.

Alabama Crimson Tide Defense: Bama will look to bounce back from their loss to the Aggies as they host Western Carolina. WCU is 1-9 in the FCS and hasn’t won since their opener. It’s an obvious pick, but one that should pay off with a big point total on Saturday.
