Monday is the start of a whole new week for Streak for the Cash. Even though the schedule is a little light, there are picks from soccer, baseball, and the NHL Playoffs that can help build your streak. Here’s the options I like today:

5/20 Streak Picks

11:00- Anzhi Makhachkala win: Anzhi is -150 to win coming in 14-8-6 overall in Russian Premier League play. At home they’re even better at 9-5-0. They’ll host Lokomotiv Moscow in today’s opener who is a solid 6-4-4 on the road and 11-7-10 overall. They lost their last game 4-1 to CSKA Moscow but had won three in a row before that. It’s not a great pick, but I’d take the home team Anzhi to get the win. Confidence Meter: 3 (out of 10)

12:05- Seattle Mariners: Yes, the Indians are hot having won 17 of 21 and trashing Cy Young winner after Cy Young winner. However, they have struggled at times against younger, emerging talent like Hisahi Iwakuma. Iwakuma has been great all year and in very situation going 5-1 with a 1.84 ERA. He’ll be matchup up against Tribe reclamation project Scott Kazmir who struggled in his last outing and comes in 2-2 with a 5.33 ERA. The Mariners will be looking to avoid the sweep, and with such an advantage at starting pitcher I think they’ll get it done. Confidence Meter: 4

1:07- Toronto Blue Jays: R.A. Dickey tries to build on his last two solid outings as he and the Blue Jays take on Tampa. Just two starts ago, Dickey help Tampa to a pair of earned runs at the Trop while striking out five in six innings and earning a no-decision. He was opposed in that game by David Price who the Rays have lost to the DL since. Instead, he’ll me opposed by Jake Odorizzi who pitched well at Triple-A Durham but will be making his Major League Debut. Tampa should be rested after a rainout in the Bronx on Sunday. Confidence Meter: 5

2:45- Yes both Teams Advance: In the League of Ireland Cup it’s the Bohemians and Drogheda United who are both heavily favored to advance. Anything can happen since it’s cup play, but the most likely outcome is that they both move on. Confidence Meter: 3

7:07- New York Yankees: No need to look much further than the pitching matchup in this one. It’s CC Sabathia (4-3, 3.19 ERA) against Freddy Garcia (0-2, 5.51 ERA). Garcia used to pitch for the Yankees and will be trying to help his new club snap a five-game losing streak. I actually hope the O’s pull this one out as a Red Sox fan, but they seem like a pretty solid pick on the board mostly because its Monday Night Baseball on ESPN. Confidence Meter: 7

7:40- Chicago Blackhawks: The Blackhawks are favored to take game three in Detroit and should be able to bounce back and regain control of the series after dropping game two. The Wings were a solid 13-7-4 at home but the Blackhawks are a more talented team and like the Pens in the first round should be able to seize back the initiative in the series with a pivotal win in game 3. Confidence Meter: 4

8:05- Texas Rangers: The Rangers just took three of four from the Tigers beating Justin Verlander and Anibal Sanchez while improving to 14-5 at home on the season. Tonight, they welcome in their division-rival A’s who they took two of three from last week in Oakland. They’ll turn to converted-reliever Josh Lindblom for the start tonight who has been doing very well at the Triple-A level. He’ll be opposed by Bartolo Colon who got a no decision for his last outing which came against Texas allowing three runs while pitching six. The Rangers have won nine of their last eleven while the A’s had lost eight of ten before sweeping the Royals over the weekend and have lost 12 of their last 16 on the road. I’ll take the Rangers at home fairly confidently. Confidence Meter: 7

8:10- Los Angeles Dodgers: Clayton Kershaw is on the mound for the Dodgers as they visit Miller Park and take on the Brewers. Both teams come in 17-25 and both have struggled lately. The Dodgers have dropped their last three in a row while the Brewers are finishing up a 2-8 road trip. They’ll try to counter Kershaw with their own ace Yovani Gallardo, but Gallardo is just 3-3 with a 4.50 ERA and is 0-2 with a 5.06 ERA in his last three outings. Kershaw has been excellent lately but hasn’t got much run support. I think the LA lineup will maange to get him enough today, though. Confidence Meter: 6

10:15- San Francisco Giants: In the other options there are some good pitchers, but in the Nats-Giants game there are two struggling starters. Zach Duke comes in 0-0 8.40 in nine games while Ryan Vogelsong actually has a win coming in at 1-4 but a dreadful 8.06 ERA in his 41 1/3 innings. Either starter could turn it on, but my guess is this is a long, drawn-out, high-scoring game that the Giants pull out at home. Confidence Meter: 3

Sunday’s Streak for the Cash picks have quite a diverse feel on this May 19. There’s a pair of Lacrosse picks, plenty of soccer from the MLS and EPL, a nice tennis matchup, a PGA Tour prop, the on-going NHL Playoffs, a NBA Playoff game, and plenty of Major League Baseball action. Here’s the picks I’m watching:

5/19 Streak Picks

10:10- Nadal to win 2-0: Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer meet in the finals of the ATP Rome Masters which unfortunately for Federer is a clay surface . Nadal has dominated Fed on clay and is 12-2 in their 14 previous meetings on the surface. He has won each of the last three clay meetings but only once in straight sets. He won the most recent meeting at Indian Wells 6-4, 6-2, and has been cruising so far in Rome. I think Nadal wins 2-0, but Federer getting a set would be far from shocking. Confidence Meter: 4 (out of 10)

11:00- Arsenal Win: The Gunners need a win to guarantee themselves fourth place as they travel to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United. Newcastle has been a bit of a disappointment this season but they’re a solid 9-1-8 at home. Arsenal won 7-3 when the two sides met earlier this season and Newcastle lost their last home game 6-0 to Liverpool. Arsenal is a solid pick in this one. Confidence Meter: 6

12:02- Denver loses by 1 or wins: DU s a solid pick especially getting a goal. They aren’t as well-known as the Tar Heels who some consider the top team in the nation, but they played a tough schedule this year and have been within a goal in their last 17 games including games against OSU, Fairfield, Marquette, and Notre Dame. Last year in the first round of the tournament DU beat UNC. Confidence Meter: 3

1:00- LA Galaxy win or draw: The Galaxy are coming off a nice 4-1 win midweek over the Philadelphia Union as they head to New York to face the Red Bulls. New York is 6-3-4 and lead the Eastern Conference. At home, New York is 3-1-1, but getting the draw I’ll take an in-form Galaxy squad over the Red Bulls in a matchup some think could be a Finals preview. Confidence Meter: 5

1:30- Keegan Bradley or Sang-Moon Bae: Keegan Bradley has led this tournament since a scorching round of 6o (-10) on Thursday. He’s one stroke up on Bae who is one stroke up on the rest of the field. The problem is that there isn’t really anyone in the chase pack who I think can bring down Bradley. Bradley was struggling coming into the week, but looks like he can get his first win on tour this year in big D. Confidence Meter: 4

1:35- Philadelphia Phillies: The Phils send Jonathan Pettibone to the mound looking to get the series win over the Reds after taking a 10-0 beating yesterday. Cincinnati counters with Homer Bailey who was struggling before a trip to Miami to face the Marlins seemed to fix what ailed him. The Marlins offense is so weak, though, it’s hard to put much stock in that outing. Pettibone has been a great callup for the Phils and the 22-year-old has been especially good at home where he’s posted a 2.45 ERA in three starts. I think he’s actually the better starter and the Phils at home will steal the win in this one. Confidence Meter: 3

2:15- St. Louis Cardinals: St. Louis hosts the Brewers in the rubber game of their three-game set at Busch Stadium. They’ll face their former teammate Kyle Lohse who has given up six runs in 12 innings in his two starts against them this season. The Cardinals have won both those games and turn today to John Gast who looked strong in his MLB debut on Tuesday. At home and with the better lineup and facing a starter they have a good history against, I’ll take the Cardinals to get the green and the series win in this one. Confidence Meter: 6

2:20- Chicago Cubs: The Cubs send Travis Wood to the mound in their series finale against the Mets. Wood has been consistently solid this season with a 4-2 record and a 2.03 ERA. He’s among the league leaders in BAA holding opponents to just .175. On the other hand, Wood’s opponent Dillon Gee is just 2-5 with a 6.13 ERA and is the league leader in road ERA in the wrong direction with a 11.34 ERA away from Citi Field. The Cubs are playing better and have won five of their last seven. They’re the clear pick here, but it’s hard to be too confident. Still, since everything points their way I’ll go Confidence Meter: 7

2:30- Switzerland: The Swiss are perfect in the tournament, but Sweden at home are heavy favorites. I think the Swiss are the better overall team even though they don’t have the stars that the Swedes do. Confidence Meter: 4

2:40- Duke Blue Devils: Duke is favored at -170 as they take on #2 Notre Dame. In Lacrosse especially, the seeding doesn’t mean much. Don’t blindly follow the seedings. The Duke offense is a powerful one and should be able to carry them past the Irish even in Indianapolis. Confidence Meter: 3

3:35- San Antonio Spurs: While I’m still undecided as to who I’m taking in this series, I think the Spurs at home will be able to take game one. They were a very strong home team during the regular season (35-6), and homecourt advantage will be key in this series where the home team won each regular season matchup in their 2-2 season series. The Spurs have been here before, but will still have their hands full with the Grizz. Confidence Meter: 6

4:05- Oakland Athletics: The A’s go for the sweep of the visiting Roayls at the O.co Coliseum as they give the ball to A.J. Griffin who has been pitching well of late. He’ll be opposed by Luis Mendoza who got his first win of the year in his last start but still has a 6.00 ERA. The first two games in this series were both 2-1 wins for Oakland. I think there will be more scoring in this one, but that the A’s will ge the sweep. Confidence Meter: 5

4:10- San Diego Padres: Andrew Cashner has been solid for the Padres in the rotation coming in 2-2 with a 2.84 ERA. He’s allowed just one earned run in his last two starts combined going 7 1/3 in each ans allowing nine hits and four walks while striking out seven. He’ll be opposed by Dan Haren who is just 4-4 with a 4.76 ERA but has pitched better lately. It should be another low-scoring contest, and like last night I think the Padres pull it out  late and earn a split of the four-game series. Confidence Meter: 3

5:10- Sporting KC Win: Sporting KC gives the tie as they go on the road to DC. DC United is last in the Eastern Conference 1-1-8 with a -14 goal differential in their first 10 MLS games this season. They’ve lost their last seven games in a row. KC is on the other end of the standings in the Eastern Conference just a point behind the NY Red Bulls but with a game in hand. They are coming off an impressive win in Houston where no one wins and now they try to win where pretty much everybody does. I think Sporting avoids a letdown and gets a W. Confidence Meter: 7

7:30- Ottawa Senators: The Senators dropped the first two games in Pittsburgh, but played the Pens closer in game two losing just 4-3. At home, Ottawa was much better during the regular season with a 15-6-3 record. They also dispatched the Canadiens in round one on the strength of two solid home wins 6-1, and 3-2 in OT. Pittsburgh did drop a game on the road to the Islanders in their first series and I think they’ll drop game three tonight as well. Confidence Meter: 4

8:05- Texas Rangers: Texas has taken two of the first three in this series from the Tigers beating Justin Verlander and Anibal Sanchez. Tonight it’ll be Doug Fister on the mound for Detroit with Derek Holland on the mound for Detroit. The Tigers have lost seven of 11 overall and 10 of their last 13 in Texas. Fister doesn’t have a good record in Texas allowing 14 runs in just nine innings in two starts there. Holland, on the other hand, loves pitching at home wehre he’s 1-1 with a 1.57 ERA. The Tigers are all the sudden scuffling while the Rangers are surging. Confidence Meter: 6

8:06- Any Other Result: This is a cool user-submitted prop on what will be the first hit of the first inning. The two sides are double, triple, or no hit vs AOR which would be single or home run. The most likely outcome is a single, but it’s such a short prop flukey things could easily happen. Confidence Meter: 4

10:10- No 7+ pitch 8th inning plate appearance: Most of the time at-bats go under this number. It also depends on who is in the game pitching and hitting at the time. I may change this pick as the time approaches depending on the exact scenerio. Confidence Meter: 2
