3 players to trade in your dynasty league before free agency gets started

The NFL free-agent signing period will officially open on March 13. Dynasty league managers should look into getting maximum value for these players before that date.

Even though it is the offseason, you are frequently looking at ways to improve your dynasty roster, correct? If not, get on that.

One of the first landmark events of the NFL offseason is just about two weeks away as the new league year begins on March 13 meaning that the free-agent signing period will begin. By now, dynasty managers should all be familiar with the players who are set to hit the open market.

But before the suspense surrounding where some of these players will sign ends, managers can take advantage of that question by trying to flip some of their players for a substantial return.

These three players could fetch that kind of return with their futures up in the air and if you can get the right deal back, these are some players to sell before the free-agent signing period opens.

Tony Pollard, RB, Dallas Cowboys

Tony Pollard is set to hit free agency and there is no indication as to what the Dallas Cowboys intend to do in regards to bring him back or not. The Cowboys could be in on a different free agent.

Pollard, at least for me, is not a featured back in the NFL. He is going to be at his best when he is paired with another solid runner, as he was in Dallas with Ezekiel Elliott. So if another team signs him to be their primary runner, I would expect his value to slowly go in the wrong direction.

Pollard was a first-round pick in redraft leagues last year and though he wasn't terrible (he rushed for over 1,000 yards), his yards per carry went down by over one yard on average and he just didn't seem to be the same runner as he was in 2022.

Pollard will be entering year six in the league in 2024 and though he can still be a solid runner, his best has probably already been seen. This is not to say he is not worth much, because that isn't true. He still carries value, which is why you want to try and get that value out of him while you can.

Before Pollard's future team is decided, sell him to a manager that is really high on him.

Jerry Jeudy, Denver Broncos

Jerry Jeudy, WR, Denver Broncos

The return on Jerry Jeudy at this point probably won't be great, but that could only get worse if he actually plays for the Denver Broncos again in 2024.

Jeudy's only selling point right now is the fact that the Broncos could be interested in moving him, something that should have already happened, but they are in a rebuilding phase and need to get more draft capital. Sending Jeudy to a new team is one way to do that.

Jeudy, a first-round pick in 2020, has been a large disappointment to this point in his career which means he has been the same for your dynasty team.

If I had Jeudy on my roster, I would float some trades around and I would listen to most counter offers. If he is traded, just about any situation would be more exciting for him than the one he is in.

There may be another manager in your league who still sees the value in him. After all, he was drafted ahead of Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb and Brandon Aiyuk.

Put Jeudy on your trade block and if you can get anything close to what you are looking for, take it.

Saquon Barkley, RB, New York Giants

Saquon Barkley is a player you could take advantage of in a trade because of the fact that he is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent and other managers in your league could be excited about the fact that he could leave New York.

I still feel that Barkley has the talent to be the best running back in the league, but that just has never happened with the Giants and there's nothing to indicate that it will. This past season, Barkley rushed for just 962 yards with six touchdowns but the most alarming number was his 3.9 yards per carry.

Barkley just turned 27 years old so he should still have at least a few seasons of productivity left but whether he stays in New York or joins a new team, it's hard to gauge how productive he will be. But he still has plenty of name value and other managers will recognize that.

Because of that, he would still provide a good return, though that return won't be the kings ransom that it would have been at one time. But if you have Barkley on your roster, particularly if he has been on your roster your entire career, has he ever been the back you thought he would be?

Sure, he has shown flashes, but it's never been sustained for a great length of time. It's a risky move to send him to a new team, especially if he were to sign somewhere such as Philadelphia where the team has a stout rushing attack, but what you could get back for his name, particularly if he was to remain with the Giants, would be worth that risk.
