2 wild value DFS plays for Wild Card Saturday for NFL playoffs
Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kansas City Chiefs, RB
Running Back Clyde Edwards-Helaire saw his role reduced this season as second-year back Isiah Pacheco stepped into the leading role in the Chiefs backfield. Since his rookie campaign in 2020, Edwards-Helaire has seen all his rushing and most of his receiving numbers decline as Andy Reid & Company has opted to get the rock to other players.
The fourth year Chief did experience an uptick in receiving yards (188) and yards per catch (11.1). With temps expected to be far below zero at Arrowhead Stadium for the game against the Dolphins, receptions could be hard to come by for everyone as extremely cold weather games tend to be run heavy. At 5'7" 207 pounds Edwards-Helaire's compact size could be an advantage for the Chiefs as they can pound the short & stocky back into the center of Miami's defensive line and wear them down throughout the game.
I know I've already said that receptions could be hard to come by in the arctic conditions expected for Saturday night's game, but if one guy can string some key passes together it's Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes. This is where Edwards-Helaire could also benefit. In the two games versus the Bills and Patriots down the stretch when Pacheco didn't play, Edwards-Helaire had four targets in each game and averaged twelve rushes per game.
Against the Patriots he managed a rush of twenty yards and a reception for 48 yards. In a three-game span during weeks 13-15, Edwards-Helaire had receptions of 20, 48 and 32 yards showing that he certainly has the ability to break out on a long reception. In what will certainly be a frigid battle of attrition on the line the Chiefs are going to need all the help they can get and Edwards-Helaire could provide the extra spark they'll need. Edwards-Helaire's price tag on DraftKings sits at $4800 for Saturday's game which leaves plenty of room to include Pacheco ($6400) and Miami's De'Von Achane ($6800) on your DFS roster.
