Best Fantasy Football matchups for Week 2

Let’s see if we can squeeze out a few more fantasy points for your team this week by looking at players who are not every week locks, but have a great chance to boost your lineup based on their matchups.

Obviously, if you drafted Patrick Mahomes, Justin Jefferson, or any of the other studs in fantasy football then it doesn’t matter who they are playing this week, you just plug them in. So you won’t find any player that is a top 10 ranked QB1, RB1, or WR1 on my list.

For all your other players it only makes sense to look at their matchups and react accordingly. Let’s see if we can squeeze out a few more fantasy points for your team this week by looking at players who are not every week locks, but have a great chance to boost your lineup based on their matchups.

Quarterbacks

Daniel Jones - Giants vs. CARDINALS - QB13 - Projected Points 17.6

Last week Jones and the entire Giants team were awful from a fantasy standpoint. They were up against what I think is the best defense in the league. This week, however, they go against one of the worst. Look for Jones to have a big rebound game with this matchup.

Derek Carr - Saints vs PANTHERS - QB17 - Projected Points 15.8

Last week Carr threw for 305 yards against the Titans. You should be able to expect similar numbers against the Panthers who were in the bottom third of defenses last year.

Running Backs

Najee Harris - STEELERS vs Browns - RB14 - Projected Points 12.7

The 49ers last year gave up the fewest yards to running backs and it looks like this year will be no different. They shut out Harris, allowing only 31 yards rushing. This week the Steelers will be without Diontae Johnson which should mean more touches for Harris against a defense that gave up the 5th most fantasy points to running backs last year. Harris scored touchdowns in each of the two matches he had against the Browns last year.

David Montgomery - Loins vs SEAHAWKS - RB23 -Projected Points 11.2

Montgomery last week had 21 carries for 74 yards and a TD for 13 Fantasy points. Last week Seattle gave up 53 yards and two touchdowns to Kyren Williams and another TD to Cam Akers. Last year Seattle gave up the 6th most yardage, 2nd most rushes, and the fourth most fantasy points to running backs. Even if he gives up more touches to Jahmyr Gibbs this is still a great matchup.

Wide Receivers

Nico Collins - TEXANS vs Colts- WR39 - Projected Points 10.5

Collins last week had the most targets (11) and most yards (80) for the Texans against a good Baltimore defense. Only five other receivers last week had more targets. This week he will be going against the Colts that let Calvin Ridley in his first game back go off for over 100 yards receiving. The last time these two teams played the score was 31-32 so expect to see plenty of targets for Collins again.

Keenen Allen - Chargers vs. TITANS -WR13 - Projected Points 16

The team high in targets last week against the Dolphins. This week should be an easier match-up against the Titans who had the 25th-ranked defense last year.

TIGHT ENDS

Luke Musgrave - Packers vs. ATLANTA - TE14 - Projected Points 4.6

The Falcons last year gave up the third-most fantasy points to tight ends last year. Last week Hayden Hurst went off for 15 fantasy points and was the TE2. This is a great matchup for the rookie.

Next. Start/Sit Week 2. Week 2 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em. dark

Hunter Henry - PATRIOTS vs. Dolphins - TE16 - Projected Points 5.4

The Dolphins last year surrendered the fourth most fantasy points and the fourth most touchdowns to tight ends. With the Patriots at home this week this should be a great matchup for Henry who was the number one fantasy tight end last week.
