Best Fantasy Football matchups for Week 3
Obviously, if you drafted Patrick Mahomes, Justin Jefferson, or any of the other studs in fantasy football then it doesn’t matter who they are playing this week you just plug them in. So you won’t find any player that is a top ten ranked QB1, RB1, or WR1 on my list.
For all your other players it only makes sense to look at their matchups and react accordingly. Let’s see if we can squeeze out a few more fantasy points for your team this week by looking at players who are not every week plays, but have a great chance to boost your lineup based on their matchups.
Quarterbacks
Baker Mayfield - BUCCANEERS vs Eagles - QB26 - Projected Points 15.6
If you say you saw this coming I won’t believe you. Mayfield this year has more yards- 490 to 363- and more TDs 3/2, than Jalen Hurts. He is top 10 in QB ranking and completion percentage. He has been sacked only once this year and that has allowed him to rank fifth in adjusted net yards per passing attempt. Even though he will get pressured this week, according to PFF Mayfield was pressured on 48.6 percent of his dropbacks in Week 2, but on those dropbacks, he still managed to go 12-of-15 for 207 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles this year have given up more fantasy points to QBs than any other team. I like this matchup at home for Mayfield.
Matthew Stafford - Rams VS BENGALS - QB25 - Projected Points 15.9
This year Stafford is looking like the old Stafford. He passed for 334 yards against the Seahawks then came back and threw for 307 yards against the 49ers. This week he is going against a team that has given up the 29th most points to quarterbacks this year. If Puka Nacua keeps up his Cooper Kupp imitation and Stafford can keep the interceptions under control, this will be a nice matchup for the Rams QB.
Running Backs
Isaiah Pacheco - CHIEFS vs Bears - RB21 - Projected PPR Points 11.5
The Bears have given up the fourth-most Fantasy points to running backs this year. The Chiefs at home should have no trouble scoring points on the Bears this weekend especially if Travis Kelce can get back to somewhat full strength. Pacheco should match up well against the Bears.
Kendre Miller - Saints vs PACKERS - RB56 - Projected PPR Points 8.6
The Packers have given up the seventh-most fantasy points and sixth-most rushing yards to running backs. It is starting to look like Miller may have the backfield all by himself this weekend with Alvin Kamara still suspended and Jamaal Williams not practicing this week because of a hamstring issue.
RECEIVERS
Jordan Addison - VIKINGS vs Chargers - WR36 - Projected PPR Points 11.4
The Chargers have given up the most yards and the most Fantasy points to wide receivers this year. This game has the over/under set at this time at 54 so this should be a shoot-out. There should be plenty of targets for everyone. Addison has scored a touchdown in each of the first two games and this one should be no different.
Christian Kirk - JAGUARS vs Texans WR37 -Projected PPR Points 12.7
Kirk has had two fewer targets but caught two more passes than Calvin Ridley this year. With Evan Engram also having a nice year, there should be opportunities for Kirk to have a break out this week at home against the Texans.
Tight Ends
Cade Otton - BUCCANEERS vs Eagles - TE26 - Projected PPR Points 7.5
If you need a tight end this might be the week to roster Otton. He has the third-most targets, receptions, and yards on the Buccaneers. Philly has surrendered the second-most yards to tight ends this year and the most touchdowns. This is a nice under-the-radar pickup since he is probably on the waiver wire.
Jake Ferguson - Cowboys vs CARDINALS - TE17 - Projected PPR Points 7.5
The Cardinals are giving up the third-most yards to tight ends this year. Ferguson has gotten the third-most targets and the third-most receiving yardage on the Cowboys. Last year the Cardinals gave up the most touchdowns to tight ends. Ferguson got one last week against the Jets, let's see if he can make it two weeks in a row.
