Is Cooper Kupp still a top fantasy wide receiver in 2023?

When Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp suffered a hamstring injury right before the start of the season, it put a lot of questions up in the air about whether or not he would be able to return to his old self before his injury last season that kept him out the rest of the season. To add to it, the surprising emergence of rookie Puka Nucua was also a factor as to whether or not Kupp would be the same player he once was. During the first two weeks of his season back in Week 5 and Week 6, Kupp picked up where he left off for the Rams.

In his return against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kupp was targeted 12 times for 8 catches and 118 yards. The following week against the Arizona Cardinals, Kupp put up a stat line of 7 catches for 148 yards and a touchdown, being targeted 9 times. Over the last two weeks, Kupp has only 6 catches for 50 yards off of a possible 17 targets.

Last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, it was the Puka Nacua show who took in the receptions for all the yardage. However, neither receiver did well against a Dallas defense that dominated their way to a victory over the Rams.

Is it time to be concerned about Cooper Kupp's fantasy production?

The Rams came into this season, on paper, not looking so great. They battled many injuries last season, including with Kupp. Now the Rams are up-and-down this season with no true direction that they are going in. Quarterback Matthew Stafford did suffer a thumb injury, but managed to play the rest of the game so that will be a situation to monitor which could affect Kupp moving forward.

Overall, Kupp has two weeks of great production and two weeks of not reaching double digit fantasy points. It is still early, but with fantasy playoffs approaching, fantasy owners who have Kupp may have to decide if they want to take the risk and keep him, or take the risk and trade him away for some value.
