Derrick Henry lands in ideal fantasy football spot
When we watched Derrick Henry address the crowd following the Tennessee Titans' final home game in 2023, it seemed clear the star running back was headed for a new home in 2024. That became official on Tuesday.
Henry agreed to terms on a two-year, $16 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens. If it was possible for Henry to be even more effective as a fantasy football asset than he was in Tennessee, Baltimore is that spot.
When the season ended, many fantasy players speculated as to where Henry could land. The Ravens were a popular pick. They were on this list where I talked about potential fits.
Henry will be able to pick up and take off with a full head of steam in Baltimore. Gus Edwards left in free agency, signing with the Los Angeles Chargers. J.K. Dobbins is a free agent. There won't be a timeshare in Baltimore and Henry will get the lion's share of the carries.
And with the way the Ravens like to run the ball straight at their opponents with the threat of reigning league MVP Lamar Jackson a threat to run as well, good luck stopping this attack.
Henry is older, but he's still the most physically imposing back in the league. He will still be a huge weapon for your fantasy football team and in fact, his value is on its way up, which is rare for a running back signing with a new team later in his career.
The 2024 league year becomes official on Wednesday. But to this point, there might not be a better free-agent signing as it relates to fantasy football than the move for the Ravens to sign Henry. Get him on your roster and unleash him on your opponents next season.
Don't be surprised if you get the kind of production Henry was putting out five years ago.
