Could Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes be a guy you could finally swing a deal for in your dynasty league? Now might be the best chance you ever get to make that move.
Regardless of the format — whether it be 1QB or Superflex — Mahomes has been the No. 1 player to own in dynasty leagues for several years now. And if you have tried to start a negotiation process with the manager in your league that has him on their roster, it likely hasn't gone too well.
In order to obtain Mahomes, you were going to have to send over a king's ransom and then some in order to get the best QB in football. That's if trading him were even an option.
But after the rough season he and the Chiefs' offense had, there could be more wiggle room than ever for a deal to be made.
Mahomes no longer has Tyreek Hill to throw to and even though Travis Kelce is still considered the best tight end in the league, that gap seems to be getting much smaller as he has turned 34 years old.
Beyond that, the offensive weapons are severely limited. Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore have all been disappointments for the team between their inconsistency and dropped passes. The most reliable receiver Mahomes has had this year has been rookie Rashee Rice, a player with an arrow pointing way up,
The Chiefs are certainly going to look to upgrade this offense before the 2024 season, regardless of how this season ends, but some managers who roster Mahomes may not be convinced that things are just going to seamlessly fall into place again.
It will still cost a lot to get him, but the pricetag should have gone down considerably based on what we saw this season. The right off, one that would not have been considered before, might be able to get that manager to click accept now.
