Fantasy Football: Load up on Texans for solid Week 8 DFS value plays
C.J. Stroud, Quarterback
Through six games of his NFL career, C.J. Stroud has proven many critics wrong (including myself) while showing Texans brass and the Houston fanbase that he is their franchise quarterback. With over a third of the season in the books the number two pick in April's draft is tenth in passing yards (1,660), tenth in passer rating (96.4) and an impressive fourth in passing yards per game (276.7).
The rookie Texans signal caller has thrown only one interception thus far and has two passing touchdowns in four of six games this season. Only once, the season opener in Baltimore, has he not thrown for a score. Stroud has two 300+ yard passing games and only once did he not reach 200 yards passing when he threw for 199 versus the Saints in week six.
The Panthers may have Andrew McCarthy-Less Than Zero on offense, but have been decent in facets of the D. Going into Sunday, Carolina is ninth in passing yards allowed per game at 197.8. In their two home games the Panthers passing defense held Derek Carr scoreless while picking him off and holding him to 228 passing yards and picked off Kirk Cousins twice the last time they played in front of the hometown crowd. Stroud is sporting a very favorable price tag of $6300 this week on DraftKings.
