Fantasy Football: playing the waiver wire for Week 2
Puka Nacua & Tutu Atwell, WRs, Los Angeles Rams
Someone has to fill the big void in the Rams' passing game that's being left by Cooper Kupp (IR-hamstring). Nacua and Atwell both did it on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, with 10 catches (on 15 targets) for 119 yards and six catches (on eight targets) for 119 yards respectively. And Nacua had a couple passes he couldn't quite reel in, and Matthew Stafford overthrew him on what could have been a touchdown.
For at least three more weeks while Kupp is out, and perhaps longer since it sounds like Kupp's hamstring issue is severe, Nacua and Atwell are in line for big roles in the Rams' passing game. Van Jefferson should not be forgotten, since he was the presumed WR1 in Kupp's absence. He would likely be more of a threat to Atwell's deep threat role.
Nacua will not maintain a 15 target per-week pace, but his overall skill set is sustainable in terms of maintaining a big role. He's got the look of a WR3/4, with a tilt toward PPR leagues, for however long Kupp is out. Atwell looks to be more boom-or-bust for the weeks Kupp misses, but he's worth stashing in leagues with 12 or more teams.
