RB: Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers

Aaron Jones looked spry in his return from a sprained MCL that cost him three games. Leading up to the game, there were concerns regarding his usage and physical limitations but those were quickly put to bed when head coach Matt LaFleur gave him eight carries on the Packers opening drive in Week 15. With change-of-pace back AJ Dillon dealing with a broken thumb that forced him to miss last week’s game, Jones dominated the backfield shares. Now, he faces a Panthers defense that is one of the worst in the NFL when it comes to stopping the run.

The Panthers rank dead last in opponent rushing touchdowns per game (1.5) and 20th in opponent rushing yards per game (117.9). Additionally, the Panthers have the third-highest rate of opponent rushing yards percentage (40.44 percent of their opponent’s yardage totals come from rushing). Meanwhile, the Panthers defense allows the third-lowest passing yards per game to opponents (173.7), so the Packers should lean heavily on Jones against a defense that is susceptible to the run. Simply put, the Panthers are the epitome of a run-funnel defense.
