5 Fantasy football trades to make before Week 2

Although it wasn't a great week for many stars, Week 1 gave us a lot of information on how we can improve our fantasy football rosters going forward.

The first week of the 2023 NFL season has now come and gone, and I send my condolences to all my New York Jets, New York Giants, and Cincinnati Bengals fans out there; it hasn't been the best week. The same can be said for fantasy football players and their Week 1 performances, for the most part. The good thing about taking losses and making mistakes is that there will always be something to learn from, and starting this week, we can begin cooking up trades together to get our fantasy squads back on track and into the postseason.

#5. Brian Robinson Jr., RB, Washington Commanders, Week 1: 13.6 pts

Brian Robinson Jr. was expected to enter 2023 in a timeshare with fellow tailback Antonio Gibson for what was exected to be a low-octane Washington Commanders offense. Well, after Week 1, the latter might still be true, but the sophomore running back dominated touches out of the backfield and was more involved in passing downs than Gibson.

Robinson finished Week 1 with 19 carries for 59 yards and a seven-yard touchdown catch, while compatriot Gibson took only three carries, made one catch, and fumbled. Of course, this is a small sample size and Gibson will still get snaps, but Robinson is trending up at a massive pace. No. 8 took 61 percent of the snaps compared to Gibson's 35 percent, and that was in a close game where the Commanders struggled to move the ball against a tough Arizona Cardinals defense.

Whatever the trade cost may be for Robinson, his 13.6 fantasy points are just a sign of things to come. The Alabama product will easily be a top-20 back moving forward, and has potential for some real strong showings against weaker run defenses like those of the Giants and Dallas Cowboys. Snap this fantasy RB2 up while you still can.
