Fantasy football Week 1 hits and misses
So how did everyone do this weekend? If you had fantasy football's No. 1 drafted players for each position, you would have had on your roster: Patrick Mahomes (20.5), Christian McCaffrey (25.9), Justin Jefferson (24), and Travis Kelce (0). They would have combined for 70 points for your team. If you had Tua Tagovailoa (28.1), Aaron Jones (26.7), Tyreek Hill (44.5), and Hunter Henry (16.6), you would have 115 points. This is what we love about fantasy football.
First, let’s look at some of my hits and misses. I put out there five things I felt could happen this year.
1) The Jets won’t make the playoffs but the Packers will. After 4 snaps this looks like even more of a lock. The Jets lost Aaron Rodgers for the season and Jordan Love came out and threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns.
2) Justin Jefferson and Tyreek Hill both have a chance to break the all-time receiving record. The record is 1,710 yards which means they have to average 100 yards per game. Jefferson had 150 yards and Hill had a ridiculous 215.
3) Patrick Mahomes breaks the passing record – He needs 5,477 yards, or 322 a game. He got 226. With his receivers dropping five passes, they aren’t helping him at all.
4) Mark Andrews - Andrews will not end the season as a top-10 fantasy tight end. - Did Not Play
5) Cooper Kupp - With a first-round draft pick you will get 5th-round - production - On IR

This is what happens every Week 1 in the NFL. There is nobody on either list whose performance we should overreact to. I don’t expect Mac Jones to get 31 points every week and I certainly don’t expect Joe Burrow to have 3.14 points ever again.
