Fantasy Football: Week 3 hits and misses
So how did everyone do this weekend?
If you had the number one drafted players for each position you would have had on your roster Patrick Mahomes (25.7), Christian McCaffrey (22.9), Justin Jefferson (27.9), and Travis Kelce (19.9). They would have scored 96.4 points for your team.
If you had Justin Herbert (29.3). De’Von Achane (51.3), Keenan Allen (45.5), and Sam LaPorta (22.4), you would have 148.5 points. This is what we love about Fantasy Football.
Biggest Hit of the Weekend: Even though Kelce came in second to LaPorta on the field, he still had a pretty good weekend.
Let’s look at some of my hits and misses.
I put out there five things I felt could happen this year.
him
1) The Jets won’t make the playoffs but the Packers will. The Jets are 1-2 scoring 42 points and giving up 61. The Packers are just the opposite at 2-1 with 80 points scored and only giving up one more point than the very good Jets defense.
2) Justin Jefferson and Tyreek Hill both have a chance to break the all-time receiving record. In 2023 Calvin Johnson locked down the single-season receiving record with 1,964 yards. Last year Jefferson led the league with 1,809 yards and Hill was right behind him with 1,710. The record is 1,964 yards which means they have to average 115 yards per game. Hill after three games has 412 yards (137/game) and Jefferson has 458 (152/game).
3) Patrick Mahomes breaks the passing record – He needs 5,477 yards or 322 a game. After three games he hasn’t hit 322 yet. At 803 passing yards, he is at 267. Not to worry though because last year after three games he was at 857, so only 18 yards a game off last year’s pace.
4)Mark Andrews - Andrews will not end the season as a top-10 fantasy tight end. - Even though he only had 35 yards receiving he still managed to end up as the TE8 for the year so far. He only has 80 yards in two games so his ranking is not more about the weakness of the position than about how good Andrews is.
5) Cooper Kupp - With a first-round draft pick you will get 5th-round - production- DNP
Matchups I liked for Week 3
PLAYER | TEAM | POSITION | PROJECTED | ACTUAL |
---|---|---|---|---|
Baker Mayfield | Buccaneers | QB | 15.60 | 11.00 |
Matthew Stafford | Rams | QB | 15.90 | 13.50 |

Cade Otton | Buccaneers | TE | 7.50 | 2.60 |
Jake Ferguson | Cowboys | TE | 7.50 | 9.80 |
TOTAL | 90.7 | 83.70 |
Notes: Not really my finest week. Miller was the most disappointing member of this list. It could be just because of being a rookie who has missed time with a hamstring injury but he didn’t ever really get it going. After three weeks: Projected points 265.4, Actual points 296.5
HITS - Players that performed much better than expected.
PLAYER | TEAM | POSITION | PROJECTED | ACTUAL |
