The 2023 NFL season is fast approaching and that means, so is the date of your fantasy football draft (if it hasn't happened already).

Much like the real game of football, fantasy football is an ever-changing game that takes the right strategy to come on top of the heap among your friends group, co-workers, or random people on the internet.

In the coming weeks, I am going to provide you with the top players at every position, the sleepers to target and the tips to get you past your best friend, spouse or that person that beats you in the championship game every year.

Here at Fantasy CPR, you will also find the best tips and strategies for dynasty or keeper leagues as well as the guys you should play in DFS on any given week.

But first, we are going to start with some strategies that you should strongly consider if you want to hold up your league's version of the Lombardi Trophy this year.

Take one of the elite QBs off the board

The best fantasy football leagues reward good quarterback play. It's the most important position on the field and that's how it should be. How are they rewarded? Quarterbacks should be getting six points per TD pass, one point for every 25 yards passing and a bonus for going over 300 yards, 400 yards, 500 yards, etc.

If you are a commissioner and you don't have your scoring set up that way, I highly suggest it. If you are in a league where the scoring settings are lower, suggest to your commissioner that this scoring system be used.

But even if not, top quarterbacks such as Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Joe Burrow should be among the top players to own in a league because of the numbers they put up. Having a guy like Mahomes should give you a huge advantage over someone starting Brock Purdy, for example.

And the gap between those two players should be much bigger than the gap between the No. 1 running back and the No. 20 running back.

With that in mind, a guy like Mahomes should be drafted way ahead of a player such as D.J. Moore, for example.

Get ahead of the curve in your draft and select one of the top 3-4 quarterbacks because the discrepancy should be huge. You should be targeting a player like this with an early pick but because of many fantasy football practices that should be going by the wayside, most players don't.

If you are unable to get someone like Mahomes, Allen, Burrow or Jalen Hurts, look for the quarterbacks that play in an offense that runs a lot shotgun formation and spreads it out with four wide receivers.
