Pay attention to team trends

Though the NFL changes each year, some things in fantasy football stay the same. So if there is a team that doesn't have good quarterback play, rarely has a 100-yard rusher or has a stud wide receiver in a questionable offense, pay attention to that.

DeAndre Hopkins has been one of the best wide receivers in the league across his career but how many passes will he see each week from Ryan Tannehill in Tennessee's run-first offense?

The same can be said about Davante Adams with the Raiders. He is always one of the league's best receivers, but Aaron Rodgers and a better-than-given-credit-for-Derek Carr had something to do with that. Will he put up those same numbers with Jimmy Garoppolo?

The same question can be asked this year of Mike Evans in Tampa Bay.

Since the year 2000, the Detroit Lions have only had a running back go over 1,000 yards rushing on the season five times. Though everyone seems to be all-in on rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs, that stat would make me take a pause.

Look at those trends, they are trends for a reason. Look at the teams that have an average QB and decide if you want that receiver, even if he is the No. 1 guy there. Look at the games that Bill Belichick plays with his running backs. Do you really want Rhamondre Stevenson or Ezekiel Elliott that bad?

Shying away from those players and letting someone else in your league grab them because of the name value can help you win a championship.
