Deon Jackson

After being a coveted fantasy football pickup during the 2022 season, Deon Jackson is the most proven (unproven) remaining weapon in the Colts running game. Though he's averaged just 3.3 yards per carry in his first three NFL seasons, and has zero career starts under his belt, there remains some heavy upside if he could become the RB1 for this Indianapolis offense.

In Taylor's absence during Week 5, 6 and 9 last year, Jackson averaged 82.3 total yards and 5.3 receptions and scored one touchdown. Disappointingly though, he hasn't offered much production in his auditions this preseason. He logged just three carries for eight yards, and two catches for 15 yards in the Colts' Week 2 matchup with the Chicago Bears last week. He did however score a rushing touchdown in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles, so it's tough to determine what his role is going to look like as we start the regular-season slate.

Jackson's ability as a runner-pass catcher is solid, but he might not be up to par with the duties of a workhorse role. He seems to be more impactful in a committee or 1-2 punch in the backfield. He'll need to make better use of his opportunities in order to change the narrative in the coming weeks.
