Last minute start/sit fantasy football advice for Week 9
By Brandon Ray
Quarterback
Start: Josh Allen
The Buffalo Bills (5-3) are heading down to Cincinnati in a rematch from last year’s playoffs where the Bengals (4-3) decimated the Bills’ on their own home turf. The Bills are in a must-win situation going into this game to keep their playoff hopes up, and are even trying to crawl their way back up to first place in the AFC East. Quarterback Josh Allen has had success on Sunday night football in his career, going 5-0 including a 14-9 win over the New York Giants a few weeks ago.
The pressure is on for Allen and he plays better when facing tough competition. As long as Allen avoids careless mistakes, the Bills should not only get the win but Allen can have some fun rather than playing from behind.
Sit: Sam Howell
Howell is coming off a massive fantasy performance against the Philadelphia Eagles last week, and what goes up must come down eventually. This week, the Washington Commanders are facing Bill Belichick at the New England Patriots, who have had success against young quarterbacks and Howell is the league’s most sacked quarterback heading into this week.
Even without the presence of Matthew Judon, the Patriots can still rough up Howell and take away Terry McLaurin on the outside. In addition, wide receiver Curtis Samuel has been ruled as well, limiting options for Howell. Bench Howell to avoid a potential loss.
