Running Back

Start: Josh Jacobs

That’s right, a Las Vegas Raider is a start this week going up against the New York Giants. Last year, Jacobs was the best running back in the game and the Raiders have not been the same running the ball this year. Maybe it is time to go back to the basics and run the football. Another advantage for Jacobs is that Jimmy Garoppolo is going to the bench and rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell will be the starter moving forward.

Up until two weeks ago, the Giants were giving up over 120 rushing yards each week. In order to get O’Connell comfortable in the pocket in his first regular season start, the Raiders will need to run the ball and establish themselves on the ground. Jacobs should be a great play this week.

Sit: Alexander Mattison

The once hyped off season running back who was expected to pick up where he left off last year has been arguably the biggest disappointment out of any player in fantasy. Mattison has yet to rush for a score (although has scored two receiving touchdowns), and now Cam Akers is in the mix who has been more of an intriguing option compared to Akers.

With Kirk Cousins being out for the season and Akers having a higher ceiling in the backfield, the Vikings’ offense could take a turn for the worst which would hurt Mattison’s production more than it already has. It should be no issue benching Mattison unless he is the best back possible on your fantasy team.
