Last minute start/sit fantasy football advice for Week 9
By Brandon Ray
Tight End
Start: Trey McBride
McBride was definitely a player to pick up off the waiver wire this past week after he posted a 10 catch game for 95 yards and a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens. There are only so many valuable tight ends available in the league when it comes to fantasy and McBride gave a taste as to what he can be for the Cardinals’ offense moving forward.
Even though Arizona has traded away Josh Dobbs to the Minnesota Vikings and are set to start quarterback Clayton Tune, McBride could easily be a security blanket for the young quarterback against a Browns defense that can dominate upfront and provide pressure.
Sit: Gerald Everett
It is tough to start anyone on the Chargers this week as they get set to face the New York Jets who have a defense that can win them games for the rest of the season if they wanted to. Tight end Gerald Everett has no more than 6 catches in a game and no more than 47 receiving yards in a game. His one upside going into this week is that he has found the endzone in each of the last two games for the Chargers.
The Jets’ defense is just too strong to confidently start a guy like Everett, who is not a main contributor like Keenan Allen or Austin Ekeler. If you have another tight end option on your team, it might be better than putting Everett in the starting lineup.
