Malik Nabers will be an excellent 'consolation prize' for dynasty managers this summer
Though it is only March and the 2024 NFL Draft is still a month away, the anticipation is building for this summer's rookie drafts in dynasty leagues as it should be one of the more interesting drafts i years.
For superflex leagues or leagues that place heavy value on quarterbacks, this is going to be a draft where several quarterback-needy teams are going to have a chance to cash in. But there are some incredibly talented skill players that are going to fall down the board further than they should because of those quarterbacks.
One of those players is LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers who is talented enough to be the No. 1 overall pick in a rookie draft in many other years, but this class is so loaded. If you happen to land Nabers, don't look at that as a defeat.
Players are going to jump on names like Caleb Williams and Marvin Harrison early but those with later picks in the first round can let Nabers fall into their laps and be quite happy about it.
Harrison seems to be a talent that is just too good to pass up and his name value (Hall of Fame father) makes it impossible to do so. But Nabers is as good of a No. 2 as you could possibly ask for. Nabers shined at his pro day on Wednesday and there are some that are even ranking him ahead of Harrison in the pecking order, something once thought unthinkable. But that is just how good of a prospect that Nabers is.
Nabers is an incredible athlete but he is also perfect for the wide receiver position. The way he runs his routes, positions himself to make the catch and has the ability to catch a 5-yard slant and take it to the house is already at a professional level.
In college, Nabers starred for one of the top programs in the country. His senior season in 2023 was ridiculous as he caught 89 passes for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns in 13 games.
Nabers is the real deal. And many draft analysts are placing him with the Los Angeles Chargers at the No. 5 overall pick in the draft. For dynasty players, team fit is critical in drafting rookies and the fit for Nabers in L.A. is about as good as you could ask for. The Chargers moved on from Keenan Allen but still have Justin Herbert slinging it around and if Nabers became his new No.1 guy... look out.
