Most disappointing player at each position in fantasy football through first half of 2023 season

We are already halfway through the 2023 NFL season and we have seen a lot of great performances as well as some pretty big disappointments. At this stage of the fantasy football season, you likely know whether you have a contending team or one that will be playing in the consolation bracket. If it's the latter, perhaps you put too much stock in one of the players below.

Fantasy football has seen some amazing performances this season but as is always the case, there have been some disappointments as well. Remember back to the summer when you were prepping for your draft and you bought into the hype of a player and then became incredibly excited to get him on your roster only for that player to be an absolute flop? We've all been there.

There have been some surprising fantasy players in 2023 but there have also been some flops. Whether or not these players can turn it around or not this season remains to be seen, but here is the biggest miss at each position through the first nine weeks of the season.

This list won't include players who suffered season-ending injuries such as Aaron Rodgers or J.K. Dobbins. Each player who made this list has done so due to their performance, or lack thereof.

Quarterback: Mac Jones, New England Patriots

Mac Jones has been terrible this year, but so have the New England Patriots as a whole. This offseason, Jones had some late-round sleeper potential in fantasy circles and if you bought into that, he has made you pay.

So far this season, Jones has completed 64.8 percent of his passes and thrown just 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions in nine games. The Patriots' offense is a mess and if you are relying on anyone in their passing attack, you are likely quite desperate.

Jones doesn't figure to get much better with the weapons he has around him, which includes Kendrick Bourne, who will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL.

Redraft outlook: If Jones is on your roster, hopefully, you have a better option that you can start going forward. Jones is a bottom-five QB in terms of starters.

Dynasty outlook: I don't like Jones' long-term outlook at all, particularly in New England, a team that was supposed to be tailor-made for his style entering the league. If the Patriots continue to trend in the direction that they have been going, they are going to hit the reset button and draft a new signal caller. If you have Jones, it might be worth it to float some trade offers out there and see what you can get for him.
