One QB, RB, WR, and TE primed for huge Week 9 fantasy football performances
By Lior Lampert
RB: Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals
Despite being the overall RB20 (RB21 on a per-game-basis), Joe Mixon has not lacked opportunity. He is currently tied with Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker for ninth in touches (131) this season, but that hasn’t resulted in consistent production. Joe Burrow’s lingering calf injury has downgraded the entire Bengals offense, but in Week 8, Burrow looked the healthiest he’s been all season. This bodes well for Mixon’s fantasy prospects moving forward, as he should have ample scoring opportunities on a potent offense.
It’s not a coincidence that Mixon had his best performance of the season in a game where Burrow seemed to be fully healthy. Mixon turned 19 touches into 110 scrimmage yards and a touchdown and now faces a Bills defense that allows the second-most yards per rush attempt (5.1).
The Bengals and Bills play on Sunday Night Football and have the second-highest over/under of the week, implying that there should be ample opportunities for both teams. Mixon popped up on the injury report for the first time all season yesterday while tending to a chest injury, but he was still a limited participant in practice.
Be sure to follow the injury report leading up to Sunday, but barring any setbacks, Mixon has a chance to follow up last week’s performance with another top-10 fantasy finish.
