Preseason rankings for all 32 projected starting kickers
By Jaren Kawada
5. Cameron Dicker, Los Angeles Chargers
2023 rank: 8
Field goals: 31-33 (94%)
Extra points: 35-35 (100%)
In his first full season in the NFL, Dicker showed out by hitting 94 percent of his field goal attempts for 128 total points. While he has struggled to find a home, Dicker has been extremely consistent whenever given the opportunity. He has never missed a kick less than 50 yards in his career with just three total misses through 28 games. Questions of his range were also put to rest in 2023 with Dicker going seven for nine from beyond 50 yards.
4. Greg Zuerlein, New York Jets
2023 rank: 13
Field goals: 35-38 (92%)
Extra points: 15-16 (94%)
Of the kickers in the top 16 in 2023, Zuerlein's 16 extra point attempts were by far the fewest. He benefit from an exceedingly inefficient red zone offense but was also limited by its overall incompetence, considering no punter took the field more than Thomas Morstead in 2023. Behind an improved offense, Zuerlein should get far more attempts in 2024, putting him firmly back into the top 10 range that he has existed in for most of his career.
3. Harrison Butker, Kansas City Chiefs
2023 rank: 7
Field goals: 33-35 (94%)
Extra points: 38-38 (100%)
With the third-most attempts of his career in 2023, Butker posted four games with 10 or more points, leading to 137 total on the year. As a beacon of consistency, Kansas City rewarded Butker by making him the highest-paid kicker in NFL history over the summer. However, with Patrick Mahomes having his worst statistical season since 2019, the overall offensive improvements provide concern that Butker will see a decrease in production but even so, he has finished outside of the top 10 just once in his seven-year career.
2. Justin Tucker, Baltimore Ravens
2023 rank: 2
Field goals: 32-37 (87%)
Extra points: 51-52 (98%)
The most accurate kicker in NFL history somehow managed to take his game to another level in 2023 with a career-high 147 points in his decorated 12-year tenure. Now attached to an offense that added Derrick Henry in the offseason and will return Mark Andrews, Tucker could see less opportunities with Baltimore boasting so many elite red zone weapons, but throughout every hurdle in his career, he has never finished with less than 128 points in a single season.
1. Brandon Aubrey, Dallas Cowboys
2023 rank: 1
Field goals: 36-38 (95%)
Extra points: 49-52 (94%)
There have been many kickers in NFL history who shined for one year before disappearing off the face of the Earth but Aubrey truly seems like something special. He missed his first career extra point but practically could not miss anything else, going 10 for 10 from beyond 50 and hitting 95 percent of his 38 attempts overall. It is a shame he did not make his debut until he was 28. Until he proves otherwise, Aubrey is in a class of his own as the No. 1 overall kicker.
