Ranking fantasy football Week 2 winners and losers

Week 2 of fantasy football was more or less a continuation of Week 1, and not in a good way.

Winner #2: Houston Texans passing game

Despite the Texans fielding what was largely a makeshift offensive line, C.J. Stroud, Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and more got it done for their fantasy football managers. They didn't get it done in real life as they lost 31-20, but football is a team game and the Texans could stand to improve in more ways than one.

The good news? Stroud looks like the real deal, and he's finding his guys with ease. Even with Dameon Pierce struggling behind the papier-mâché blocking, the Ohio State product was able to connect with Collins, Dell, and Robert Woods, who each had at least six catches and 70 yards. Dell and Collins both scored touchdowns as well.

Once the Texans get healthy up front and Pierce gets going, this team could win some games. That time isn't now though, and with Houston likely to be trailing in most games, their receivers could all be viable in your fantasy lineup. However, it's probably safer to stick with the dominant Collins or the veteran Woods until we see more consistency from Dell.

Loser #2: Las Vegas Raiders RB Josh Jacobs, Week 2: 9.9 points

Josh Jacobs actually improved on his Week 1 total of 9.1 fantasy points, but it's how he did it that's concerning. The Raiders star rushed nine times for... -2 yards. However, he stayed active in the passing game and caught five of six targets for 51 yards.

Through two games, Jacobs has 28 carries for 46 yards and his efficiency has been seriously awful. The Raiders will have brighter days and easier matchups, but 2022's rushing champ will need to step up in a big way in order for the team to capitalize on their struggling AFC West compatriots.

The Raiders didn't commit to offering Jacobs a big, long-term deal in the summer, and if he can't get it done against the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Chargers in the coming weeks, it will spell bad news for everybody. Fantasy owners should still start Jacobs, but it might be time to shift one eye to some potential trade targets.
