8 fantasy football observations and takeaways from Week 8
Sam Howell is the real deal
Last year, the storyline from the NFL Draft was Will Levis' fall from being a potential Top 10 pick all the way down to the second round. The year prior to that Sam Howell faced a similar fall but he fell all the way to the fifth round.
The Washington Commanders had enough confidence in Howell to not really bring in any competition during the offseason, outside of Jacoby Brissett, and that confidence has paid off recently.
On Sunday against the Eagles, Howell completed 39 of 52 passes for 397 passing yards with four touchdowns and only one interception. Since his four interception game in Week 3, Howell has thrown 10 touchdowns and only three interceptions over five games while averaging 295 passing yards.
The Commanders defense is not very good this season, especially in the secondary, and they are going to find themselves in a lot of high-scoring games this year. They will likely ask Howell to throw, and throw often, making him a good option most weeks for the remainder of the year.
