1. Assume Caleb Williams is going to declare

While this is a tricky situation to say the least, you have probably already stocked up on 2024 first-round picks if you had hoped to go out and get Williams, and there is no need to dump your first-rounders just yet. It is still likely that he will end up making the decision to be the number one overall pick, even if Arizona does take the spot as the worst team in the league.

We have also seen quarterbacks successfully refuse to sign with teams that they are drafted to, and with NIL, Williams has all of the bargaining power to threaten a team like Arizona not to draft him, or to trade that selection since he can just go right back to college and make similar money.

And even if he stays in college, there are still great players to take in this year's draft, Quinn Ewers, Drake Maye, Marvin Harrison Jr., or Brock Bowers are all great alternatives if you have to wait until 2025. While Williams may just be leagues ahead of those guys in terms of guaranteed fantasy success, it is still a solid class to choose from.

While we also have to prepare for worst-case scenario here, we have heard quarterbacks not immediately declare even though we all know they will. Williams delayed his transfer decision to USC as long as possible, and even played in Oklahoma's bowl game before following Riley. Williams most likely is saying this to make the discussion not about his draft stock, but rather about his team's focus on winning a national championship.
