Elijah Mitchell (San Francisco 49ers)

Christian McCaffrey has been one of the best running backs in fantasy football this season and as long as he is healthy, he will retain that role and be the primary back in the San Francisco 49ers offense. However, McCaffrey has not been very durable in his career and if he were to suffer an injury then Elijah Mitchell is the next man up and would be almost a must-start every week.

Elijah Mitchell has had his fair share of injuries as well and has not proven to be very durable either. When he has been healthy on the field, he has shown to be very productive. The best season in his career was in 2021, prior to the 49ers trading for McCaffrey, when he had 963 rushing yards, an average of 4.7 yards per attempt and five touchdowns.

The 49ers have a pretty favorable schedule down the stretch as well with games against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15 and Washington Commanders in Week 17. If McCaffrey were to miss any time, Elijah Mitchell could be a big factor during fantasy football playoffs.
