The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to play the New England Patriots on Thursday night and kick off Week 14. However, they will be doing it without their starting quarterback Kenny Pickett, who has an ankle injury that will keep him out for a few weeks.

The Steelers are now going to be starting Mitchell Trubisky in place of Pickett and for fantasy football managers who might need a quarterback, is he worth starting this week?

For the season, the New England Patriots defense is allowing on average 221.8 passing yards per game which is right in the middle among NFL defenses. However, they rank among the best in terms of passing touchdowns allowed with only 13 but don't have many interceptions with only six.

The defense as a whole has been playing much better lately as they have allowed 10 or fewer points in each of the last three games. This past week against the Chargers, Justin Herbert was only able to throw for 212 passing yards with no touchdowns.

After Pickett's injury, Mitch Trubisky would complete 11 of 17 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown. However, even with the good showing in relief of Pickett, this is a week to keep Trubisky on the waiver wire or the bench.

Unlike Week 13, where there were six teams on bye, there are only two teams on bye in Week 14. Those teams are the Arizona Cardinals and Washington Commanders, and while Kyler Murray and Sam Howell have been low-end QB1, there are better options for this week.

The matchup isn't great and quarterbacks like Desmond Ridder (against the Bucs), Joe Flacco (against the Jaguars), and Joshua Dobbs (against the Raiders) have better matchups. It wouldn't be surprising to see Trubisky finish anywhere between QB20 and QB24 but it is tough to project much more than that.
