Fantasy Football: These two 49ers players won't be fantasy busts

The "bust" word gets thrown around a bit to freely at times when it comes to fantasy football and two top players for the San Francisco 49ers can still be productive.

Are you a fantasy football owner with either George Kittle or Deebo Samuel on your roster? If so, are you panicking that these players may not been what they have been in years past? Well, if you are, stop right there.

It seems that there is some concern over how Kittle and Samuel will perform this season. Take a look at this list put out by Fantasy Pros. Both of them make their "consensus bust list".

Why is this? Because Brock Purdy is playing QB?

Let's start with Kittle. Last season, he caught 60 passes on 86 targets. One season before that, he had 71 catches on 94 targets, so just a slight drop in production. But he also found the end zone 11 times, which was easily a career high for him.

Now let's take a look at Deebo. His production did drop last season in a big way, particularly in the touchdown department. He had five total touchdowns. But it was going to be hard to keep the pace of his massive 2021 season.

Now, I'm not suggesting that you overdraft these players because they seem to have clearly lost their luster. However, if you snag them at the spots they are being drafted at this year, then you could have a solid asset on your hands.

While Kittle is the TE4 according to Fantasy Pros' ADP, you can likely still get him in the middle rounds because of the drop-off at tight end after someone gets Travis Kelce. I think Kittle is as good as any tight end you will find not named Kelce or Mark Andrews. If you are able to get him after the sixth round, you've done well for yourself.

Purdy will look Kittle's way often and while he might not score 11 touchdowns again, he'll be a prime target in the red zone.

Samuel at WR19 might be even more of a value pick. That means a lot of wide receivers were likely selected ahead of him in your draft. While most of the wide receivers ranked above him are great players, he provides massive value at that spot.

The 49ers have Christian McCaffrey, the player who likely went No. 1 overall in your draft. But their offense still needs other weapons to come up big and the next two options on that list are Samuel and Kittle.

This doesn't mean that these two guys will blow up this season, but much in the way I talked about Alvin Kamara here, they are both players who slid down the rankings this year that will still help produce the numbers to lead you to a title.
