5 Fantasy football trades to make before Week 2

Although it wasn't a great week for many stars, Week 1 gave us a lot of information on how we can improve our fantasy football rosters going forward.

The Sunday matchup between the Cleveland Browns and the Bengals is about as AFC North as an AFC North game can get. Neither team moved the ball all that well, and neither Joe Burrow nor Deshaun Watson could hit the broadside of a barn. Thanks to Nick Chubb and his fellow elves, the Browns were still able to come away with a W.

So, Watson might stink now and the Browns' passing game will suffer for it, but there were actually some positive takeaways from Sunday's game, even for fantasy purposes. Elijah Moore and Amari Cooper each caught three balls on seven targets, but it was Moore who led the team in receiving yards (43), and finished with 9.2 fantasy points thanks in part to 19 rushing yards. In total, Moore had five touches for 62 yards, finishing third among the Browns' skill position players in touches and second in yards.

Cooper is still the team's top receiver and Chubb will always get his piece of the pie, but Moore's usage will be key to his success on fantasy rosters. The former Jet ran 56 percent of his routes from the slot, and tied with Amari Cooper for a team-high 24 percent target share. In addition, Moore paced the team in routes run, doing so on a whopping 80 percent route participation.

The Browns seem intent on getting the ball in Moore's hands in more ways than one, and if Watson continues to struggle, the 23-year-old could end up being a high-volume target underneath defenses. In 2021, in games where Moore had seven or more targets, he finished those games with no fewer than 77 receiving yards and scored in all of them. If the third-year receiver can stay healthy, he's a potential fantasy league winner and you need him on your roster yesterday.
