The NFL has three games on Thanksgiving this year with the Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers starting the day. The late afternoon game will be the Washington Commanders vs. the Dallas Cowboys before the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks play each other in the primetime game.

When looking at these three games, there are plenty of favorable matchups for fantasy football with players that are must-starts. However, some players don't have great matchups and could be better suited on the bench this week.

Fantasy Football: Week 12 Start/Sit for Thanksgiving games

Quarterback

Start: Dak Prescott (vs. Washington Commanders)

Dak Prescott has been one of the best quarterbacks over the past six weeks with 16 total touchdowns and two interceptions in five games. He has thrown for 300 or more passing yards in three of those games.

This week, Prescott gets a Commanders defense that has been giving up the fourth most points per game to quarterbacks over the past four games. There may be some tough lineup decisions but this shouldn't be one as Prescott should be the best quarterback playing on Thanksgiving and has a good chance to score the most points among all quarterbacks in Week 12.

Sit: Geno Smith (vs. San Francisco 49ers)

As for a quarterback that is not a good play this week it has to be Seahawks' quarterback Geno Smith. He has a very tough matchup this week against one of the best defenses in the league in the 49ers.

On top of that, while the Seahawks are reportedly optimistic that he can play, he is dealing with a tricep injury. This could mean they come in with a game plan that leans even more on the run game and limits Smith's chances in this game. He is a player to avoid and being on Thursday it should give fantasy football managers time to find a replacement.
